Thursday
-Livia's Pov-
It's Thursday and Evan has apologised to me about a million times. I appreciate it but I also wanted space.
I haven't seen too much of Kaden the past few days, he seems to be avoiding me.
It sucks but I thought it might be good to give him space, maybe that's just my way of dealing with things and he wants me to talk to him... I doubt it.
When I'm not at school I'm either working, at the gym, or talking to Lucy and June. They don't seem too worried about Kaden's absence so I try not to let it bother me.
But the truth is, I think I miss him.
I slam my locker shut and jump when I see Evan standing next to it.
"I'm sorry."
"I know."
"Are you ever going to forgive me?" Evan asks and I sigh.
"Have you apologised to Kaden?" I change the subject and now it's his turn to sigh.
"Why is he so important to you?" Evan asks calmly but I can see the look of anger in his eyes. When did I say he was important to me? We're friends, therefore of course I care.
"Did I say he was? Isn't he your best friend? I'm just looking out for the both of you." I say and the anger dissolves from his eyes. Yeah, that's what I thought.
"I'll... talk to him, we don't always get along." Evan says with a frown. I can tell there's more too it than that but I really just want to get home now, besides, Violet is waiting for me.
"Okay, I need to go now. I'll probably see you tomorrow." I turn around and walk towards the door.
Violet is waiting for me outside in her car as I walk out.
I get into the car and she gives me the 'we need to talk look'
"What is it?" I ask tiredly. Let's just say I haven't been getting the most sleep lately.
"You need to talk to Kaden!" My best friend basically yells at me.
"Why? He's avoiding me." I look confusedly at her. If he's being a jerk he can come talk to me first.
She turns into a street roughly and I hold onto my seat.
"Because he's angry and upset. Don't you see him look at you in the hallway?" Violet gives me the 'girl, here's the tea' look. It's a very common look we use.
"No, I haven't. If he doesn't want to talk to me, why try?" I shrug and she groans.
"You have so much to learn about boys. First off: when a boy is ignoring you, ask yourself why? If you've done something wrong, you should know. Have you done something wrong?" Violet explains. This is like life lessons 101.
"I don't think so."
"Good! That means he's either upset or just plain weird!" she exclaims. Violet, I think your life lessons are extremely flawed.
"So, talk to him?" I ask and she groans. Is this woman a gorilla? Also am I really considering talking to him?
"Yes! You really are unobservant sometimes."
She's a gorilla and she's rude, ladies and gentlemen, my best friend.
"Hey! I am not." I protest.
"Whatever, just go get that man!" She stops in front of Kaden's house and shoos me out.
"I'm not getting any man!" I yell as she drives off.
"Not getting any man? How sad." I whirl around to find Kaden washing his car outside. This is the first time I've seen him since Tuesday.
His hair is messy and hangs over his forehead just a little. His greenish-brown eyes are dull and bloodshot, he looks awful, or well, awful for Kaden.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Kaden says dryly. I walk towards him, ignoring the dry tone of voice he keeps using.
"Are you okay?" I ask quietly when I'm close enough. I swear if he keeps acting like a jerk I'll slap some sense into him.
"So you care now? I thought you were too busy talking to Evan." He keep washing his car and I sigh. He thought I was talking to Evan? More like Evan wouldn't leave me alone.
"I always cared, we're friends, Kaden. I just thought you wanted space. I haven't been talking to Evan since he said 'your glaring at your fries like your mom just died.'" I state.
His eyes look straight ahead as he keeps washing the car.
"He said that?" Kaden grips the side of the car tightly and I fold my arms over my chest.
"Yes, but he didn't know about my parents."
"Still a dick move." Kaden glares at his car.
I sigh, "Yeah, I told him if he talked to you and apologised I'd forgive him."
"Oh, why?" Kaden turns to look at me. His eyes look a little more alive than before, but they still look tired.
"Because, I care about my friends, even if they're being a jerk, or making too many sexual jokes, or just infuriating m-" he cuts me off.
"The only part of that sentence I listen to was 'I care about my friends'" He smiles at me. That's the first time I've seen him smile. It makes me feel all happy inside to know I caused it, even if I did just insult him a lot.
"Uh huh, I totally believe you." I roll my eyes and he laughs.
"Thanks, Livi." He puts emphasis on the nickname and I glare at him. Why does he have to call me that?
"For what?" I ask as we walk towards his house.
"You know."
I smile slightly at that, completely forgetting the nickname. Vague as always, that's Kaden for you.
"Let's go eat, I'm starving."
Me, always.
.-.
"LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS, TO DEFEAT THE HUNS!" I sing at the top of my lungs, using a hairbrush as my microphone.
"DID THEY SEND ME DAUGTHERS, WHEN I ASKED FOR SONS?!" Kaden sings next to me as I get up on the couch.
"YOU'RE THE SADDEST BUNCH I'VE EVER KNOWN!" I sing on top of the couch.
"BUT YOU CAN BET BEFORE WE'RE THROUGH!" Kaden gets up onto one of the kitchen stools and belts out the lyrics.
"MISTER, I'LL MAKE A MAN, OUT OF YOU!" I yell as the Mulan movie plays on the TV.
Now, you're probably wondering how this happened, it's quiet a short story really. I wanted to watch Mulan because who doesn't love that badass bitch, Kaden agreed seeing as she was hot and I didn't argue, can one really deny that statement?
So here we are now, belting out I'll Make a Man Out of You, the best way to spend a Thursday evening. The best way to spend any evening, if you disagree I'm seriously concerned.
Our singing is cut short by the door opening and Evan walking inside. We both stop singing and stare at him.
"Uh, hey." he waves awkwardly and I burst out laughing. I flop back down onto the couch and laugh even more. It isn't even funny, I'm what you would call nervous laughing.
