Chapter Eighteen

Light's POV:

"It's Kira! Kira did this!" The woman frantically screams.

What the hell?! No I did not! Was this man a criminal? Sharon is clinging to me. I know that she is panicking right now. L is on the phone the police will be here soon. I really don't want to be here when they get here.

"Well this is interesting." Ryuk states. Of course he is amused and I'm sure he knows exactly how this happened. Sharon gives him a quick glare.

"Go ahead and take Sharon home. I will take care of this." L says to me.

"Thank you Ryuuzaki. I will." I say quickly grabbing Sharon and leading her out to my car.

I turn on the engine so happy to be leaving.

"I know that wasn't you Light. Maybe it was a normal heartattack. We can't always assume Death Note every time right?" Sharon asks frightened.

Ryuk chuckles.

"Ryuk is there anything you can tell me that is useful?" I plead.

"Well I suppose I can tell you that it was a Death Note death." Ryuk responds.

"Oh god Light! That means...."

"There's another Death Note." I say angrily. "Another Kira!"

"No Light it can't be!"

I drive into the apple orchard and park. It's dark and no one is there. Ryuk starts drooling. He long finished off his bushell of apples for Courtney's death.

"I need to think. Ryuk can you talk to other Shinigami when they are here on earth?"

"Yes but I haven't seen any lately. Not since you became the owner of my Death Note." Ryuk says with arms full of apples.

"Light if there is another one out there with the Death Note they may notice you too." Sharon says.

"Only if they made the eye deal. If so then they will not see the lifespan of the Death Note owner under their name. Light can still make that deal with me if he likes." Ryuk says grinning mischievously.

"No way will I give up half of my lifespan for a fucking imposter Kira!" I yell angrily.

"Light wait... Think about it. If we can figure out who the other Kira is then maybe we can bring them to L and you would be declared innocent. I could do the eye deal."

"No! Fuck no Sharon! I will not allow you to do that!" I spat. "You are mine and you will live a long healthy life by my side! I fucking love you! No way in hell I'd ever let you sacrifice yourself for me. No we will find another way. I have a feeling it won't be long before this other Kira tries to find me. Maybe they already have and all we have to do is wait patiently for them to show up."

"Light I will do anything for you. You are my life."

I pull her into my arms for a kiss. "You stay alive for me then."

"Your eyes are glowing again. They are so beautiful at night. How does this keep happening?"

"He is possessed by the Death Note itself. Anger and intense emotions trigger an effect on his physical appearance. With Light it is more apparent than I have ever seen before. I have never seen the Death Note favor a human more than this one."

"Are you saying the Death Note has preferences and feelings?" I ask.

"Yes. It chose you. I didnt . It wanted to be yours." Ryuk explains.

"Why haven't you told me this before?" I ask the shinigami annoyed.

"You never asked." He chuckles.

Sharon rolls her eyes. "It knows your special Light and so do I."

I kiss the top of her head. "Let's go home."
