Reign

Waking up, I felt unusually uneasy. Everything felt sore as if I'd worked out endlessly the day before. It was a pain if never felt before and in a matter of minutes, it was gone

Joey was at work so I couldn't immediately alert him if anything went wrong. I was hoping it was nothing to do with the baby but if it is, I can't do anything to change it

As the day progressed, the pain progressed also. Realising this probably wasn't normal, I rang the hospital

"Hello, this is the mother and baby clinic, how can I help?" A friendly voice asked

"My name's Reign Wilson. I'm just over 8 months pregnant and I'm experiencing some pain"

"Okay, can you tell me what it's like?" She questioned

"It's a really sore pain in my lower stomach. I've had it since this morning and it comes and goes but it's getting a lot more frequent" I reply

"Right, okay. It sounds like you might be in the beginning stages of labour. Have your waters broken?"

"I don't think so"

"Okay, come in to the hospital now and we'll check you over to see"

"Okay, thank you"

"Bye"

Running around the house, I stuffed everything into my hospital bag all while ringing Joey in the process. Finally, he answers

"Hey babe, everything okay?" He asked

"I'm having pains, Joey. I have to go into hospital" I replied, still running and packing the bag

"Say no more, I'm on my way home"

I shoved my phone in my back pocket and stood wondering if I'd missed anything out if the bag. I had a change of clothes for me, a change of clothes for baby, nappies, wipes, a dummy, snacks, a charger and other forms of entertainment

Was there anything else?

I hope not

Hearing the gravel on the garden crunch, I grabbed the bag, slipped some shoes on and raced out, locking the door behind me. I dropped the bag on the floor of the car and bounced in, closing the door and squeezing the seatbelt over me

"Ready?" He asked

"Ready" I replied
