In the Zoo

Trapped in cages, bound by chains,
Just inches away from going insane,
Not enough ground to roam, not enough room to breathe,
Trying to find ways to escape, fighting to be free,
Too much time spent thinking about time yet there's not enough time when all you have is time,
People stop to observe you but only for a second then they go back to their comfortable lives and leave you behind,
Cause to them the zoo is only a place to visit, never a place to stay,
While some seem to have no choice on where they wake up each day,
Caged inside four walls, watched closely by the zookeepers who are ready to inflict pain at the slightest notion of freedom,
While on the outside visitors flow in each day seeking fun,
Rage is what you feel when the only emotion you have left is despair,
People stop, look, point, and laugh, I guess it would be asking too much to expect them to care,
But the ones in the cages aren't laughing at all,
Too busy trying to find a way to break through the brick walls,
Freedom is a distant star for those who can't obtain it,
While visitors still keep pouring in to see the cages animals on exhibit.
