Devon sat in the wooden chair in front of the wooden desk, tilting back by pushing the tip of his foot against the back of the wall. His face was expressionless as he surveyed the decor of the room.
The walls were dark, with wooden flooring. It was lit by several lamps around the room. The walls were hardly visible, though.
Every inch had a picture or map plastered to it. Countless photos of Virgil were taped everywhere, along with maps and pictures of various places that Virgil spent his time at. There were lots of lists. Virgil's info, his family, and his favourite things, favourite colour (purple), favourite season (winter), favourite food (croissant), and also favourite animal (bat). There were also photos of Patton, Logan, Thomas, and Roman.
Devon wanted Roman dead. He hated him with every fibre of his being, wanted to crush his skull in, shoot him, make sure that he would never come back.
Virgil was his, not Romans. How dare Roman? How dare he hold Virgil, kiss him, make him smile so easily.
Roman didn't deserve Virgil's love. No one did. Except for Devon.
Devon's relationship with Virgil was a strange one. He loved him, he loved everything about him. His skin, his hair, his mouth, nose, his eyes... His eyes were like deep pools of water, drowning him in their darkness. But he loved it.
But though Devon loved Virgil, he loved to hurt him.
He loved the feeling of his soft flesh beneath his knuckles, when something crunched under his fist, and he loved the dark blood that leaked from wounds that he created.
Devon loves the sounds that Virgil made when he was in pain. The scream, the groan, the whimper, the shout, Devon loved it all.
Devon loved everything about Virgil, the good and bad.

"Okay... you turn right here, keep going for six-hundred metres and it's the last house on the right, number fifty-five."
Roman, sitting in the front passenger seat, read out the directions to Logan, who drove the car they were in. Patton and Thomas sat in the back, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.
"Hey, Roman?" Thomas said, "What if... Virgil isn't there?"
Roman didn't look up from his phone, "What do you mean, Tom? Of course he'll be there."
Patton sighed, "But Ro, there's a chance that Devon took Virgil's phone off of him and planted it somewhere."
It was a moment before Roman replied, and Patton could hear the desperation in his voice.
"Virgil's there, Patton, I know he is."
Roman saw Patton close his eyes and shake his head slightly, but chose to stay silent for the time being.
"Alright, I believe we have reached our destination." Logan informed them. "This is Fifty-Five Reptile Lane?"
Looking at the house that they were parked in front of, then at the picture on his phone, Roman nodded.
"Yep." he growled, "This is it."
Roman climbed out of the car and slammed the door shut behind him, making Patton flinch.
They heard him pop the trunk and rummage around for a moment, pulling out a plain black duffel bag.
The other three men got out of the car cautiously, walking around to see Roman open the bag.
"Roman, what's tha-" Patton was cut off by a gasp, then a baseball bat was thrusted at him.
A large knife in a sheath was handed to Logan, much to his surprise, and Thomas received a stun gun.
Roman himself had a small knife of his own, a club and- a gun.
The sight of the handgun bought audible gasps from all three men- even Logan.
"Roman, is that legal?" he asked slowly, "Is that allowed?"
Checking the gun for any safety issues, Roman nodded.
"I have a licence to carry no more than two firearms, and all the rest of them are legal as self-defence mechanisms."
Patton stared at the gun, "Roman, why do you have that?"
Roman snorted.
"After that psycho kidnapped Virgil four years ago, I took every precaution." he looked at them all, a cold look in his eyes. "I went to the gym more often, took self-defence classes, and shooting classes. I learned everything I could about what to do in a crisis, what not to do, how to fight without killing the person, how to specifically fight to kill, the pressure points, how to wield a knife, how to shoot a gun, I learned everything."
Roman looked around at his friends, "I will do anything to protect Virgil, anything."
Logan spoke, stuttering for the first time in six years.
"B-b-but Roman, w-w-what if D-Devon also has w-weapons?"
Patton took Logan's hand and squeezed it, knowing that he had only ever stuttered this bad when nervous, or doubtful.
"Then we cross our fingers and hope for the best." Roman said. Logan gulped.
"Alright, Logan." Roman began, "You study at medical school and you know where all of the vital organs are. If Devon comes at you, you know where to stab him."
Logan bit his lip and nodded, eyeing the knife.
"Thomas, you don't have much experience in using weapons but you studied karate in high school and know the weak spots, stun him if necessary."
Thomas nodded, gripping the stun gun.
"And Patton." Roman said gently, "I know you'd rather do anything else other than hurt a human or animal, but if Devon tries anything with you-" he was cut off abruptly.
"Then I'm gonna fuck him up." Patton growled.
Roman's eyes widened and he took a small step back, slightly frightened by Patton's intimidating stature.
Patton scowled, resting the baseball bat on his shoulder.
"No one messes with my family."
Roman, Thomas and Logan all glanced at one-another, visibly shocked by Patton's threat and cussing.
"O-Okay." Roman said, recovering his senses. "I think we should split up throughout the house, so we find Virgil quicker. And if any of us run into Devon while in there, we simply knock him out if possible, but if he tries to kill us, he dies."
Three nods.
"Alright, let's go."
The four men walked up to the massive house- if it even was a house. It looked more like a rectangular building with a few windows and a door, but not like something you would voluntarily live in.
Once the reached the front door Roman pulled out a strange tool, like a mini screwdriver-type thing but with all different edges and things. He inserted the tool into the lock and wiggled it for a few seconds, then smiled when a satisfying click sounded.
"I also learned how to lock-pick." he told them quietly.
Roman, Patton, Logan and Thomas stepped silently into the building, glad to see it was relatively light inside.
There were three hallways to go down.
"I'll take this first one." Roman said, "Logan and Patton take the next one together then seperate when possible, and Thomas take the last one."
They all nodded, Thomas a little hesitantly, and they all silently went down the halls.
