This is a time skip to two and a half months into the relationship. Cuz I'm lazy asf .-.

Neil's POV

Everything has been going great so far. I haven't really screwed up, unusually. And Max was always being so considerate of my nervousness. It's like I've known him even longer than two months.

I was out on campus with Nikki, just talking of course. "Honestly I just can't wait to just sleep right now, it's Friday!", she yawned.

I laughed. "Well, I mean you could speed walk to the house and I could hang at the park by myself." Nikki shook her head. "Nope! I've depleted took much energy all day, I deserve a relaxing nap in the eyes of nature!"

I was suddenly tapped on the shoulder. Turning around I see this huge guy just towering over me. Could he see rooftops from there? His ginger hair covered one of the menacing green eyes that glowered down at me. "So word has it that you're Max's boyfriend", he grumbled, his voice so deep and scary.

I shook. "Uhm." Nikki looked horrified at him. But at the same time, she was almost growling. The guy took a look at her. "Oh, hi Nikki, still eating dirt I assume."

"You'll be the one eating mounds of it once I pin your ass to the grass", she suddenly snapped back. Okay what the hell was going on?

He gripped my shoulder harder. "So, what does Max see in you? Is he even doing this to get back at me? I bet David doesn't have approval of this now does he? How could someone get over me that quickly, clearly he wants to make me jealous. Who'd date such a puny man like you? He's obviously using you for something-"

I suddenly heard Max calling my name up ahead. I didn't flinch, but the guy looked up.

I turned around. Max had stopped in his tracks, close enough to see what was happening.

His glare was one I never saw before and it was scary as hell. "What the fuck you want now?", he sneered. "I was just chatting with your boyfriend", the guy respond when there was a pause.

"Leave him alone", Max snarled, tugging my arm. I almost lost balance and stumbled forward. "Oh come on, baby boy. You've ignored my calls and my texts-"

Max rushed over and shoved him. "I've told you so many times. Leave. Me. The fuck. Alone. You daft son of a hooker!" He raised his voice at the last part.

"Don't be like that."

I put a hand on Max's shoulder, trying to get him to calm down.

"Stay the fuck away from me, Nurf."

Now I remember! This guy was his ex. Damn, he must've done something really fucked up for Max to cut contact like that. Somebody called him from afar.

"Yo, Nurf! Professor wants you back for a..sec..."

Nina halted beside Nurf, her voice trailing away before she chuckled nervously. "Oh boy, Max you won't believe who just joined our band after Chucky quit!"

. . .

The awkward silence hung like a chandelier today. We all just sat, it was only quiet because Nikki was asleep.

"Nina, he was not allowed in the band for a reason", Max groaned. Nina scratched the back of her head. "I know, but...we haven't had any luck with finding a suitable drummer for the past month, but he's only auditioning for it and I know you want to spend the weekend with Neil, so you're totally fine!"

"Did you finally pick a place for that shit?", Max asked, rolling his eyes. "Because the dude who owned the last place last week said we can't come there anymore."

"Um..", Nina sighed. Her eyes widened. "Oh, hello Erica!"

I turned around to see Erica watching behind us, looking a bit drained since she stayed up all night painting the stars. "You know, I promised her we'd go and hang somewhere", Nina suddenly explained very quickly, getting up and hurrying to Erica.

"No you didn't-"

"Yes I did. We're going now so bye!"

As they both left, Max had a puzzled look on his face. It turned sinister when he turned to me. "What did he say to you."

I was sweating. "Well, all he said was that he heard about us being together that's all", I said, trying to keep myself from stuttering. Nikki suddenly sprung up, very energized from her nap.

"No he didn't", she chirped. "He was questioning him with all these question, assuming Max was only using you to get him jealous, because he's an ass with this huge ego about himself and clearly thinks Max is as obsessed as he was with him in high school!"

Max clenching his fists. "I fucking knew it."

He stood. "That's it, I'm changing my goddamn number tomorrow." "Yeah!", Nikki burst, pumping her fist in the air.

"Look, I can handle this", I reassured them. "I'm sure we could just talk to him-" "Neil, he's not a talker, he's a fighter, unless you can throw punches, he won't leave us alone."

"Wait, why is he still trying to talk to you?", Nikki inquired. "He was the one who messed up."

Max crossed his arms. "He thinks I'm just some object he can pick up and put down as much as he pleases. I'm holding onto the damn ground if he thinks he can try to get me back."

"Yikes", Nikki sighed.

I was reading on the couch when someone whacked me with a pillow. Hard. Like, so hard that my face stung and since it hit the ear it rang loudly.

I looked up to see my attacker and before I knew it, Nikki had pinned me with her elbow. "Nikki what the fuck?", I manage to get out before I felt dizzy. "It's training, for the coming battle", she addressed.

She got off me and I struggled to stand up. "What coming battle?"

Nikki rolled her eyes. "The fight with his ex, duh!" "You're telling me Neil's trying to fight Nurf?", I heard Nerris chime when she was coming downstairs with Harrison. Nikki nodded aggressively. "He's Max's ex." "Holy shit, Max dated him?", Harrison gasped.

"Uh-huh, he tried it with me today, but I knew he was after Neil since he's the new boyfriend after all." She turned to me, bouncing around like some wrestler in a video game. "Go ahead, punch me."

I put my arms up weakly. Despite being the second shortest of this household, Nikki was strong as hell. "C'mon, do better than that! I promise I'll go easy." I clenched my fists harder and moved around a little.

She punched me in the gut. "Too slow! C'mon!"

I tried to regain my breath but she swung her leg through my shins and tripped me. "Shit, Nikki", I grunted in pain, grabbing at my shins. "Show some strength", Nikki instructed. "That's what my self-defense teacher taught me. Intimidate the enemy." "That's what I can't do!", I protested.

I got up making a time out sign. "Look, I'm just gonna go and get ready to go see the audition thingy with Max. I beg of you, please don't chuck a pillow at my face while I go upstairs."

The three amigos tagged along with me, eager to see the band. Harrison was in it, too, but he said he had to finish some extra credit work and couldn't come.
