Luke Gray heaved a sigh as he turned off his blaring alarm. It's Thursday today - the day of the week that Luke hated the most. While Monday is infamous for being the worst day of the week, Luke begged to differ. Thursday, for Luke, consists of starting the day with an upper-cut known as PE, followed by the heavyweight punch to the face known as English, and finally, the dropkick known as RE (Religious Education). Luke stared at the ceiling and closed his eyes for a brief moment.

I hate Thursdays so much.

He dragged himself out of the comfort of his bed and, sluggishly walked to the bathroom. He brushed his teeth, took a refreshing shower, and slipped on his school clothes. After scavenging for it, he put his English book into his bag and went downstairs.

"Morning mum."

"Morning Luke."

He sat down at the table and began munching on breakfast.

Luke sipped some tea, "Mum can I like not go school today?"

"Luke, we've been over this. I can't exactly let you skip school every Thursday just because you don't like the subjects you have that day." Luke groaned

"Cheer up. At least you'll miss out on a bit of English today."

"Hmm? How come?"

"Did you forget? You have vaccinations today."

A smile graced Luke's face. He had completely forgotten about the vaccination that was going to happen during third period. At the very least he was going to miss half of English today, and that, in itself, was something to look forward to.

He grabbed his bag and rushed towards the door, "Bye mum!", he shouted as he left the house. Today might not be that bad after all...

Right before period three

PE, typically, took place outside the school and the site changed depending on the sport the class was going to play. It had been exhausting, as usual. However, that wasn't the reason Luke was annoyed - his class had returned late from the football pitch, which had led to them missing out on the 15-minute break time that took place between periods 2 and 3. Break time was one of the two saving graces (the other being lunchtime) that Luke could count on to support him throughout the day, and it had been stolen from him.

"Cheer up Luke," said a voice behind him, "At least we'll still be missing out on some English." He turned around to find Tracey Camberlins, a friend that he had known for almost eight years. She was also not very happy about missing out on the break, but, as usual, she was trying to stay positive.

God knows how she can be like that, but, honestly, it's a lifesaver to have her around, especially when you aren't in the best of moods.

"Yeah, we're only gonna be stabbed with a needle instead, " Luke replied

"What, you scared of needles Luke?"

"Not as much as Ross."

"Oh, shut up," said Ross as he quickly joined them, "we all have something we're scared of. I just happen to be scared of something that can actually do some harm."

Ross is also a friend Luke had known for a long time. He had been Luke's first friend when he had transferred into Tracey's school. Tracey had become friends with them soon after, and the three had stuck together. He has dirty-blonde hair and brown eyes, which are closer to golden, really, but he preferred to call them brown. He is slightly taller than Luke.

"Wouldn't you usually be scared of something that can harm you?" Said, Tracey

"Well yeah, usually," he answered, "but there are cases where people are scared of stuff that couldn't harm you, even if a trained assassin used it."
