Janice and I had decided to meet after the letter exchange. We wanted to talk about Lisa, and frankly, be able to see each other again. I had felt like a terrible friend and wanted to make up for it.
"Alice? Your friend is here." A nurse led me to the visiting rooms and let me take a seat before bringing Janice in. She sat down awkwardly and thanked the nurse, who nodded and left.
After the nurse was gone, Janice stood up and rushed over to hug me.
"I'm so glad to see you again!" She held my shoulders and looked at my face, which was full of surprise. I looked up at her as well, embracing the dark brown eyes and warm smile I had missed.
"I thought everyone would have forgotten about me," I whispered sadly while she sat down again.
Janice looked up with a smile as if she was saying "well, not me."
"So... what happened with Jeff?
Janice nodded and began to talk.
"The night of your arrest, my parents came home drunk and I slept on the couch. The morning after your arrest, I had seen your name on the news and ran to my parent's room, crying. When I got there, my parents were both lying dead on the floor surrounded by wine bottles and Jeff was standing right in front of me. He pinned me to the ground and almost had me when I realized that he may have been who killed Lisa. Then the police arrived."
I was practically on the edge of my seat by the time she had stopped explaining, tears welling in my eyes. "Oh, Janice, I'm so sorry about this."
"You don't need to be." she smiled. "We should talk about Lisa instead."
Alice.
Alice.
"Alice?"
I looked up, startled. I must have zoned out, which was very unlike me. "Sorry. Yeah. Lisa. What about her?"
"I think I know who killed her, and I want to try and reach her."
That was a weird thing to say about a dead person.
"Reach her? Like, ouija board reach her?"
"No," she rolled her eyes, "call her cellphone. Of course, I mean with an ouija board!"
I shifted towards her and whispered. "I don't think I can do it here."
"Of course not. That's why I'm taking the ultimate risk and doing to by myself."
"Janice!"
"What? I've cheated death twice. If I die the third time, I'll still have a story to be told."
I sighed. She did have a point. She had avoided an infamous killer twice, but that didn't mean I wasn't worried about her. "Janice, I don't think that's a good idea."
The nurse walked back into the room, gesturing that the visit times were over. We both groaned and parted ways. I watched her shuffle back to the outside world and sadly walked towards the confined space.

Reaching Lisa, huh? I didn't believe in all that supernatural stuff. Personally, I thought maybe Janice wasn't as sane as she seemed. I mean, I wouldn't be after losing both my parents and staring into the face of death twice.
Either way, I had to figure out a way to stop her. Surely she didn't have an Ouija board yet, right? I'd ask her if she wanted to talk about this more over the phone tomorrow. That would work.
