Shin Yeeun was a Joseon woman, but she could read Chinese Character and Hangeul, and she was much wiser than most Seonbis. Above all, she had outstanding talent in painting.

But she cannot be recognized by the world because she is a woman. She had to live as a woman of her husband's, living in his house and serving his family.

She overcame a boring life by reading books or drawing pictures behind her husband's family's back. (During the Joseon Dynasty, there was a belief that if a woman was smart, her family would be ruined. Thus, people felt bad about women reading books, so noble women were not as often able to learn letters or get an education as common people.)

Her husband, Kim Sungwon, who was married politically when they were teenagers, is the first son of a landlord family, the richest in Gangwon-do. He was incompetent, ignorant, uninterested in studies and works.

He liked alcohol, gambling, and women.
He didn't come home often because of his hobbies. After all, he was more famous for "Dissipated Seonbi," not "the eldest son of a family that is the richest in Gangwon-do." Unfortunately(?), he died in a horse-riding accident last year while returning home under the drunk.

Joseon was a very patriarchal society and had strong preference for male, so it was a time when most of the family's complaints were often blamed on women.
Plus, it was a rare choice for an already married woman to remarry. The son of a remarried woman could not hold a government post legally, and the remarried woman had to be criticized throughout her life as a woman who failed to keep her chastity.

After her husband died, Yeeun was accused of being a vicious wife to local people and family members. They said she didn't help and support her husband properly and made him die early. Yeeun's husband was called "a poor man who died early without children" in "Dissipated Seonbi" after his early death. Yeeun was angry at the fact that this ridiculous reason made her a sinner and tormented her life, and grieved that she had been born a woman.

This is my first novel, first fan fiction.

It is a historical drama novel in which a woman is the first main character.
Part1 depicts the plight of Joseon women on behalf of the main character, Shin Yeeun.
The second main character, Jinyoung, will appear at the end of Part 2.
