"Babe?"

I slowly opened my eyes to see Butch hovering over me. He was leaning on the head rest of the couch, his hand tracing lines in my hair.

"You're just coming home?" I asked sleepily.

"No, I've been home for hours." He walked around the couch, my eyes following him then sat at the edge and put my feet on his lap.
"You must be hungry, your dinner's in the microwave." he said as he gently massaged my feet.

"Dinner? How long have I been asleep?"

That brought a little life to my voice, the last thing I remembered was listening to my mom rant about what she was gonna cook for her hubby and no, she wasn't talking about her husband; it was my little brother. Her and Derek have this weird relationship which no one in our family can understand. Maybe it's because he is the last child and moms' adore last kids. They were the ones always making corny jokes and laughing to it even when it wasn't that funny, they were the ones always having the most inside jokes. If my dad didn't take him to military boot camp when he was 10, he would have turned out to be a wuss.

"Let's just say pretty long." he smiled at me.

I sat up only a little because my body felt so weak and I felt so heavy. I was just so fucking tired. "What did mom make?"

"Chicken."

"Chicken." I echoed.
I thought for a while trying to recreate the taste of chicken on my tongue and how it felt to tear a piece off the bone with my teeth while silently asking my tummy whether it wanted something spicy or not.

"No, I'm not in the mood for that."

"We have doughnuts in the fridge." he suggested.

Doughnuts? Sweet, good. Cold, bad. So my tummy is a cave woman or its probably too lazy to say a complete sentence.
"I don't want them cold."

"I'll hit em up for you."

"Thanks." he kissed my my forehead then disappeared into the kitchen, reappearing 5mins later with a small box of warm doughnuts.
I took a small bite out of the chocolate covered goodie. 'Is this good enough for you' I asked my stomach, savouring the taste on my tongue. 'no, put it down', so I did.
I handed him the box while he gave me a confused look. "You know what Babe, this is too sweet for me. How about plain yoghurt?"
"Do you want me to heat it up too?" he asked sarcastically.

'yes, like they do in the commercials. Let's eat it like that.' My tummy said.

"Yes." I was definitely not saying the latter.

He looked shocked, "Babe I was joking."

"And add some coconuts; grated. Strawberries; whole and bring me a chocolate bar too."

He shook his head at me then came back ten minutes later with everything. I picked out a strawberry and licked each side, put it back in, brought it out and licked it again. I repeated the process a couple of times because my tummy hadn't decided whether I liked it or not but when it did Butch almost had a fit.

"I don't like this. Let my chicken sit in the freezer for a while then take it out when it's cold but not too cold. Bring salt with you also when you're coming."

He walked away murmuring to himself, "what the f**k is wrong with her taste buds."

He came back with my chicken but he didn't hand it to me like I thought he would instead, he set it down on the table.
"Look, I am just gonna set this all down. So you can take a bite from everything."

He arranged all my previous meals very skillfully on the coffee table. "Babe I don't wanna get up." I whined.

"No? C'mon." he pulled me by my arms up then helped me sit with my legs crossed on the carpet.
