Before The Rift...

I rested my hands on my desk as I read over the blue prints for the new missile that Gabriel and I designed. I was tasked with putting together a list for the needed supplies before we built it.

"You know I don't like this right?" I asked looking over to Gabriel, who sat at his desk across the room. Gabriel took his feet off his desk and stroked his short brown beard. 

"Why's that Shay?" He asked leaning back in his chair with a slight grin. "Rebecca knows what she's doing"

"Rebecca could kill millions with this missile. And it's not just that, its this crazy rift idea that Rebecca has. She wants us to unite the Dimensions through it but-"

"But what Shay? Have you gotten cold feet? Come on, we told Rebecca we'd do it, and after what she did to Krolock I'm not so keen to get on her bad side" Gabriel remarked. The Portal Jumpers, which included both Gabriel and Rebecca successfully defeated Krolock the Superior, who was a insanely powerful being that not even the portal jumpers combined could kill. With a little help from the Union Of Magic they instead locked Krolock and most of his followers into a place known as the Demon World. Which from my gathering was some form of hell dimension. Whatever the place is, it also seems to block Krolock's telepathy ability's from entering our ring of dimensions. Thank you Union.

"Look, All I'm saying is making the missile to help save lives in the future doesn't make any sense to me"

"Why's that Bentley?" A voice called from the entrance, surely enough leaning on the doorway was Rebecca Will's. Both Gabriel and I stood up straight.

"Not having those defenses in place is exactly what caused Krolock to come to power in the first place." Rebecca spoke.

"Hello Ma'am" Gabriel smiled to the young woman as she entered the room and walked over to my desk.

"I told you to stop that Gabriel" Rebecca smiled, Gabriel chuckled softly and sat back down. 

"Look Shay, if you have a serious issue with what we're doing you can step out of the position. But I'm not gonna sugar coat it, without you here leading the research, it may not go as smoothly"

"You really trust me enough to lead the Rift Technology? Because, Rebecca, I really think punching a hole in the dimensions is a bad idea. You want some sort of gateway into the dimensions but we aren't sure how they will behave, or if people will be able to safety transport to and from it" I explained quickly, probably coming off as paranoid.

"Then I want you to figure it out. We want to establish trade between the dimensions Shay, not only that but communication. We have non portal jumper allies that have a tough time communicating. Like you" Rebecca spoke, she turned and looked over to Gabriel.

"You have gathered your sources I assume? Along with the fail safes should the Rift get out of hand?" Rebecca asked. Gabriel nodded.

"Of course ma'am, Roman and his scouts have given me the contacts, I plan to head out tomorrow to start the journey" Gabriel explained picking up a book of paper that Gabriel has been writing in for the past week. Apparently, it has the locations and names of all 71 sources for each dimension.

"There's another thing!" I spoke raising my voice a little. "You want to send Gabriel on a six years quest to meet with the sources, when he has a family here he needs to be with!"

Rebecca smiled. "Shay, your overreacting, the trip will only be a few months. We have given Gabriel a Portal Gauntlet to super charge him. We aren't stupid"
