25 | The Announcement

THIRD PERSON POV

After the announcement was made, the media request for further explanation to why the emperor decided to choose a commoner over three notable nobles. As the emperor's advisor, Frederick Wang has to step up and explained to the media that Kathryn Park, who was a maid before coming to the palace had made the emperor head over heels for her.

"I will only entertain those who wish to be civilised when they ask any question. If any of you decided to be rude or disrespect the throne, see yourself out," Frederick somehow manages to calm the crowd by threatening them.

The emperor and her future empress were astounded by how he controlled the situation.

A reporter raised her hand. Frederick gave his permission for her to speak.

"The viewers would like to know the reason why the emperor would choose someone that doesn't have any background in ruling a country before. What motive does he have?" Frederick turns to the emperor who gave her permission for her advisor to speak.

"The reason would be love at first sight. And about the future empress doesn't have any background in ruling an empire, that will change in few months time after she learnt everything from the royal tutor and the emperor himself. Next question," a magazine editor raised his hand.

"How did the council member react to his majesty decision? Knowing them who believe that the throne only suits those who have a prominent bloodline, they wouldn't agree that easily," Kathryn kept a straight face even though she's about to explode in front of these reporters.

But as the future empress, she surpassed every feeling she has and let Frederick handled everything.

"The council members agree because they have no reason to disagree. Even if they have issues with the emperor's decision to choose Lady Kathryn as his bride, they wouldn't say anything. The emperor has his right to choose who's going to live by his side for eternity. Next question," a news reporter raised his hand.

"How will the emperor assure his people that Lady Kathryn will be a great role model for our younger generation? She was a maid before coming to the palace. Just that title would tarnish the emperor's name," Frederick was shocked when he heard the question.

He cleared his throat before changed the way he presents himself.

"Tell me sir, who are you and which company are you from?" Frederick asked.

"I'm sorry for not introducing myself sooner. My name is Arthur Burns from Wings Publishing Company," the man smiled at Frederick.

"Wings Publishing huh? You don't say. If I recalled correctly, your company mostly published gossips and rumours without any solid proof of it ever happening," Arthur Burns then realised that he probably said too much.

"The Palace doesn't give any mercy to those who smeared the emperor's name. And for you to address your future empress with such tone, I say the gallows are waiting for you, Mr Arthur Burns," Arthur Burma's eyes widen.

"But knowing Lady Kathryn, she doesn't like violence that much. This time you'll be given a chance to prove yourself worthy of receiving that mercy," just before Arthur Burns released a sigh of relief, Frederick gained everyone's attention.

"And to answer your question, Mr Arthur Burns. Lady Kathryn is the epitome of elegance and hardworking woman who doesn't know how to quit. The youth will see her as a role model and also a sign of hope," the room once again filled with blinding lights from the camera.

"I apologised on behalf of the emperor and his fiancée. That's the only time we have. Thank you all for coming and we hope that you will do a good job spreading this happy news to the people of Gralia and to the world. Please follow the maids that will guide you to the door." Both Alvia and Kathryn stood up from their seat.
