United States Decay

The Town

Michael was driving for a hour now. The landscape turned fron ash covered fields full of old tanks and planes into a forest. Then something appeared in the distance, it was a town. Relieved he drove in.
-Well this place looks abandoned. At least the shop isn't looted
He then went to the decaying shop and grabbed some dog food.
As he was feeding his fox a sound broke the eary silence. It was a radio static
-what a frequency here?
Then a voice was heard
''THIS IS A NATIONAL EMERGENCY. EVERYBODY IN THE FOLLOWING STATES IS TO BE EVACUATED:NORTH CAROLINA, IDAHO, OREGON-''
- What the fuck?!
He then heard something in the distance. It was a metallic sound along with a loud buzzing.
All of a suden from between the buildings a shape appeared. As Michael tried to enter the car, the thing revealed itself. It was a 10 meter long metal robot looking similiar to a bird. It was made from steel, plastic, cables and rubber. Its eyes were made from headlights and under it's outer shell there was  an intense movement similiar to breathing.

Michael backed off sweating and shaking. The car then hit something. As he was looking back at the thing he noticed it. Around 70 people with the techremote devices where hooked up to it by wires. All of them looked happy or at least calm.
Michael hit the gas, driving over two of them and escaping under the beasts feet. As he was driving throught the town he started seeing movement between the buildings
-oh no theres more of those...
Fox in the backseat started howling.
Michael felt his heart sink as he saw a similiar monster standing at the road leading out of town.
As the car hit the leg of the thing, it fell over. Mike for a moment saw the machine in it's full glory. While it looked makeshift or of its wires and parts were put in almost precise positions. Around it was a group of 30-40 people all of the looking like mummies with the techremote devices.

As he drove off at no point he looked back. The only thing forward from  him was a sign
