namjoon tossed and turned in his shared bed, not able to shut his mind down.

he had always slept in the same bed with someone, whether it be his sister or his mother, namjoon preferred sleeping with someone.

he grew up poor, single mom with two kids just trying to make a living. his sister was often in charge of babysitting him while their mother worked. it was difficult on his sisters part, mainly because she was only two years older than him, but they made due. thier mom worked many jobs, serving at restaurants to bartending at bars, she did everything under the sun in an attempt to give her kids the best life she possibly could.

but sometimes bills couldn't get payed, and the heat and power would get shut off, leaving him and his sister to cuddle in their medium-sized bed that they shared with their mother. it wasn't comfortable, nor did it have a bed frame or a box spring, it was more just a full-sized mattress on the floor in their one-bedroom apartment.

so sleeping alone felt unnatural to him, even curled up with a bunch of blankets and his cat at the foot of the bed, he felt so alone that he couldn't sleep.

he was scared of the dark when he was alone as well, something about not having someone there to protect him from the bad guys terrifies him. he kept the hallway light on, just in case.

he even tried to listen to the pretty sounds of the wind and the storm, but he was too scared that a murderer would crawl through the open window.

he heard a jingle and panicked, hiding under all the blankets on the bed, holding his breath for what seemed like hours, but in reality was only a few seconds.

"are you still awake, joon?" he let out a sigh of relief, it was just yeri.

he popped his head out from under the blankets, "yeah.. i couldn't sleep."

yeri smiled at his cuteness, taking off her fancy dress and slipping into one of her pajama shirts and climbing into bed with him. "well now I'm here to protect you."

he smiled at that, tucking his head into the crook of her neck and slowly dozing off, not noticing the fresh hickies or the smell of another man's cologne on her.
