Written from Elliott's POV
Look at this beautiful woman in my arms how did I become so lucky to get with her? How did she become apart of me? I've got to keep her no matter what.
She looks up at me and I smile back and pull her a little closer as we continue to watch the movie. My Jenny. I'm speechless. The way her hair falls over her shoulders and the way she gets excited over the little things she's beautiful.
She'll always be my baby.
Suddenly, things took a turn for the worst Luisa came out saying Emelia had gotten worse her fever wasn't going down instead it was only getting worse and she had a cough she didn't have before.
Jenny started panicking and I tried calming her down but on the inside I was worried too. All I could think is that we had to get her to the doctor as quickly as possible. I had no time to waste.
Luisa hurriedly got her dressed, trying to put her on something comfortable but it wasn't working my baby was burning up and I could see it in her eyes that she was trying to not cry because of how bad she felt. I held her in my arms and she couldn't hold back anymore.
As tears streamed down her precious little face Jenny panicked more and more, immediately thinking the worst.
We got her in the car and she sat in the back seat comforting her to the best of her ability as I turned the air down enough to keep her cool because in heat like this every moment was crucial. She took off the booties and her hat and held her in her arms rocking her until she calmed.
Eventually she fell asleep in Jenny's arms and her natural reaction was just to watch her, making sure that her fever didn't continue to spike. We packed her baby bag with a couple different outfits deciding that a onesie was probably the best thing for her right now.
She kept her comfortable throughout the car ride and when we got to the hospital I parked the car and pulled out her stroller so she put her in there and not carry the car seat. We checked her in together and waited until the doctor called us.
I explained that she was fine she had a fever so we decided to stay home instead of going out then when our housekeeper went to check on her. She noticed that she'd been sweating so she gave her a bath and we brought her here, deciding it'd be the best thing since we're both new at this.
"Wow, he really took charge," she marvels.
She spoke up, her birthday is June 21,2019 she's healthy baby and very loved, this is her first cold and I'm trying not to panic because I know colds are normal in babies and she's gonna get sick but her temperature was 103.5 when we left. She's only been a little fussy but when we were in the car I changed her diaper and it was barely wet so I'm worried.
The doctor was impressed as he introduced himself as Dr. Singh and gave a small backstory of how long he'd been practicing medicine and was impressed with all the information they were both able to provide, he smiled at both of them "can I hold her for a minute? We've got to take her measurements and get her settled. If you don't mind I'd like to treat your sick baby."
Jenny looked at him nervously, reluctantly she handed her over to him, "please be gentle, she's still fragile."
The doctor gave her a knowing look "I've been in the medical profession for over twenty years and I completely understand your concern but if you trust me I promise that we'll get her all better." I know you're scared and nervous but if you want your daughter to be treated tonight you've got to let me do my job ma'am, he continued on as Jenny still had her inhibitions.
The nurse walked in and she still looked like she wanted to snatch her out of Dr. Singh's arms. Her grip got stronger and Em cried louder.
I spoke up, "Jenny will you come with me for a minute there's something I need to talk to you about." I tried my best in convincing her to leave Em with the doctor, assuring her that nothing will happen in the two seconds we'd be gone.
She sighed and we walked out of the room leaving her with the care of the professionals.
Jenny, she's gonna be okay you've got to let the doctors do their job if you want her to get better. We're gonna be in there at every minute if anything even seems wrong we can easily leave, but if you want we have to do this.
We've got to let her experience the doctors because she's too young for medicine and I don't want anything else to get worse. So please just let her get checked out.
She interrupted, "El you don't understand she's my baby I don't want to see her in pain I don't want anyone to touch her. We don't know these people how do I know they're not gonna touch her while we're gone? Oh my god, someone's gonna hurt my baby! Let me back in there, I have to take care of my baby."
I pulled her closer to me and sat her down on the benches outside the door, "Jenny I promise that nothing's going to happen to her but she's sick she needs their help so let's get her some help. You don't want her sick right? These doctors are professionals I know there's a lot of creeps but we're right here she doesn't have to worry and neither do you. "
"So let's do this, for real this time without you practically clawing the doctor's eyes out. You can even call Alex if you need to."
"Fine, I'll let go a little but I just don't want her to end up with bumps and bruises by the time she leaves."
"She won't," I insisted, trying to ease her worries. "Think about it like this when she's a little older she's gonna fall and scrape her knees elbows and god knows what else, you're not gonna have a breakdown each time are you?"
"No, of course not I want her to be able to experience growing up climbing trees and shit. Even though she's apart of the technology age. "
"Good, so she's at the doctors what's gonna happen here? She's gonna get better."
"Fine. You win," her voice trailed on even though I knew she didn't really want to agree with me.
They walk back into the room seeing the doctor take her measurements and read her temperature as the nurse fills them in on what's wrong with her.
"She just has an everyday cold, her fever spiked because she was under too many blankets, it made her body temperature rise. Instead try cooler clothes and maybe a fan of course not too close to her because you don't want to make her sicker."
"But if you put it on low near the foot of the bed she should cool down. Give her a lukewarm bath and I can give her some children's Motrin which should be able to bring her fever down."
"You have a very healthy baby and I understand that colds are scary because she's not breathing, eating, or sleeping normally but that's the same way with adults too. Just keep doing what you're doing and she'll be back to your playful baby in a few days."
Jenny finally looked relieved as we walked over to get her discharge papers and her prescription for some over the counter children's medicine. "Yeah see I knew she'd be okay I can handle anything."
"Yeah and I'm superman," I mumbled.
"What was that," she raised her eyebrows and stood on her tippy toes to get in my face. "Mhm, that's what I thought you know I'm a beast when it comes to keeping calm."
"Yep, definitely a beast," I chuckled to myself as she got back in my face and I looked at her amusingly. "You're so cute when you're mad. Keep going it's adorable."
"For one I am a sexy amazing GODDESS I am not cute, you understand me? Gorgeous? Yes. Cute? Hell no. What am I five? Calling me cute, I am not pie damn it," she protested. "Also, if you're gonna address me as something you may call me fantastically amazing beautiful Queen of all the land."
"That's a lot to remember, I think I'll stick to Jenny it fits much more."
She rolled her eyes and I smiled at her humorously as we walked back to the car. Things are finally looking up.
