It was late evening when the slaves finally came back to the mansion. They were all exhausted, thirsty, sore, and starving. They were sent to their rooms, and given their portion of food; a cup of water and a small chunk of bread.
Aldercy hobbled into her room, rolled onto her bed, and lay on her side ,hoping to cause the least pain to her back. It was there that she lay, thinking about the young girl who had spoken to her that morning. She was surprised by what the girl had said, and as she lay there, she thought to herself, 'If i ever get out of here alive... im going to get help and rescue these poor people, and prove to them that there truly is hope."
