Annoyance

I was in the hospital for about a week before I was released. I wasn't going to be able to go to school for another week after that, so I'll have to lie helplessly at home on the sofa and try not to do anything except watch Netflix and hop it doesn't buffer.

"Are you sure you're going to be alright?" My mum asks me, looking me over.

"Yes mother, I'll be fine," I shuffle uncomfortably on the sofa, hissing slightly when a sharp pain shot through my chest.

"See! You never know!" I give her a look of annoyance and she tuts. "The phone's right there, my number is next to it," she says, patting the items in order. I nod in understanding. "Here's the wireless mouse, I already logged you in on Netflix." I nod and hold my tongue, I can still see.

"Thanks Mum, I love you," she kisses me on the forehead lightly.

"I love you too, can you see the food I left out for you? I'll try to come back at lunch to feed you properly."

"Okay, thanks."

"No problem sweetie, see you later," she waves goodbye and then heads towards the door. I hear a soft thump as the door closes.

"Yes, marathon, marathon, marathon, go, go, go!" I laugh hysterically and click on Doctor Who.

----

I check the time and notice that it's break for those people who are at school.

"Ha, I have a break for the whole of today," I pull a face, "no, that doesn't make sense, wait..." I shake my head and shrug which sent a huge surge of pain through my body. "Ouch... Ah well, no one heard me... Unless..." I look around carefully, Leeroy was nowhere in sight.

A ding goes off on my phone and I see a text from Louis. I open up my phone and read the full text.

'Hey, how's it going? Niall's back today, he's missing you a lot. I miss you a lot...' Yeah, Niall sure does miss me when he doesn't bother to text for most of the day. Maybe Louis is goin- would be a better boyfriend. I mentally slap myself.

'Hey, it's all good, watching a Dr Who marathon, you okay? Missing you and Niall a lot too... But tell Niall he needs to bother texting me to show he's missing me cause he seemed mad at me when we talked during the week we were both off...'

He replies back instantaneously.

'Yeah, he was playing something on the PS3 or something... Can't remember what though :/.' This made me angry, no, annoyed, which for me is worse. He would much rather play a game or whatever he was doing than talk to me? Yeah, I read, I fangirl, I play games, but I still reply whenever he sends me a text!

'Right, cool.' I grit my teeth in annoyance.

'Gtg, breaks over, talk soon, byeeee'

'Byyyyeeee x' Shite, didn't mean to send that...

';) x' Don't reply, don't reply. I squeeze my eyes shut and click off my phone. I return my attention back to The Doctor Dances.

------

Mum came home from work during lunch and she interrupted the really scary part in The Waters of Mars. She made me cheese sandwiches and she fed them to me. I made quite a mess...

"Mum, you do realize I can feed myself?"

"Yes honey, I just don't want you to strain yourself. School emailed, they want me to pick up cover work today."

"Okay, cool," I said.

"I better get going actually, I'll see you later," she touched my arm and walked off towards the door again.

-----

Niall texts me at four o'clock.

"Hey! xxxxxxxx' My body practically shudders with annoyance. He obviously doesn't realise how much I wanted to talk to him last week.

'Hey xx' Good, that's good, not too happy-go-lucky and not to bland.

'What's wrong? xxxx' My first reaction was to type 'nothing' but that would only simply enforce the stereotypical woman.

'You didn't talk last week when I really wanted to talk to you'. He reads it and nothing happens for a minute or two.

'Yeah, about that... I just was in the mood for playing on the PS3!' I groan. Don't be too harsh, Sara.

'And you didn't think to text me to let me know or anything?'

'But I did!'

'Yeah, but then you stopped texting back!'

'Oh, sorry' I groan again, louder this time.

'We could've FaceTimed or Skyped or something...'

'Yeah, but then my phone would have ran out of charge and all the plugs are taken up by the TV' It was a fair point, but did he have to spend all that time purely playing games? I sigh and decide to give up, I can't be bothered.

'Fine, fine, fine, how was school?'

'Well, if you're going to be annoyed at me for no reason at all, I'll just go. Talk to you tomorrow x goodnight x love you' I nearly scream with annoyance.

'Goodnight x love you too' I click the phone off and create a kind of strangled walrus noise. I pause Doctor Who. It's that tightening feeling in my throat again. I bite my tongue. No, I won't cry over a guy I've barely dated.

It's just- it physically hurt when he said goodbye like that.

When I think more and more about it, there's no stopping the small stream of tears that run down my cheeks.

A ding goes off.

No, I won't answer.

Another one.

No, I won't answer.

Next, a ring tone. Louis.

I pick it up and answer.

"Hey," I say, sniffling slightly at the end.

"Oh my gosh, Sara, what's wrong?" Louis asks.

"It's Niall, I asked him about why he didn't talk and he was just so ignorant towards me, like I don't even think he realized how badly I wanted to talk to him."

"Oh, Sara..."

"It's fine," I sniff again, "don't worry about it."

"For now, I won't. But you bet your ass I'm going to fricken..."

"Just, leave it for now."

He sighs, "Fine," he answers finally.

"Good, how was school?"

"It was good, except Eleanor dumped me..."

"Oh my God, why?"

"She saw me at the hospital when I was in your room..."

"Sorry-"

"No, don't be sorry it's not your fault. I don't blame her..."

"Louis! You're a great person, okay?"

"Okay..."

"Do you know if she has her eyes set on someone else?"

"No... Not of yet at least."

"Oh."

"Well, I'll let you be. Text me if you need anything, okay?" I nod to myself.

"I will."

"Promise?" His voice has turned deeper, more serious now.

"I promise."

"Cool, I'll talk to you later then, bye Sara..."

"Bye Louis..." Before I can press end, his voice sounds once again.

"Oh, Sara?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you." That's when he hangs up. I'm left there, in complete shock, my phone still by my ear.

Silence.

Guess I'll have to live with this for a little while.
