In Buddhist art, the lotus is often found in the form of the lotus throne that symbolizes the Buddhas' and bodhisattvas' perfect spiritual state. In paintings, Buddha Amitabha, one of the five transcendent Buddhas, is often associated with lotuses. The deity Avalokiteshvara is usually depicted with a single lotus in one hand. Thus, Buddhist art is decorated with lotuses, reminding Buddhist of their journey to enlightenment.
