In paintings, Buddha Amitabha, one of the five transcendent Buddhas, is often associated with lotuses. The deity Avalokiteshvara is usually depicted with a single lotus in one hand. Thus, Buddhist art is decorated with lotuses, reminding Buddhist of their journey to enlightenment.
