Tris waited in the line. all the 16 year olds going up one by one, sliting their hands and letting their blood trickle onto either rocks, soil, glass, coals or water that filled the bowls of the factions.

Next up a boy named peter, he wore the clothes of a Candor, but he looked anything but honest. He slit his hand as if he had trained for this his whole life. He instantly knew what he was going ...

to do, his blood now sizzling on the dauntless coals.

She had been standing there for so long, 30, maybe 15 minutes?

Either way, it was a long time. Another Candor girl went up, Her name was christina, she was tall and very slim, looking as someone Tris might actually be friends with one day.

She shook those thoughts out of her mind, she couldnt think like that, she didnt even know what faction she was going to choose in the first place. She instantly ruled out Abnegation, she loved her family, but they were just too much to take, she couldnt stand trying to be selfless all the time she just couldn't.

Finally Caleb, the only member in her family who she actually related to, was up. He walked up with shakey hands, grabbing the knife and slicing down his hand, Tris could see the tinge of pain in his face, but she know it wouldnt bother him. Tris's heart race as she watched him drip his blood into the water, making it red. It all made sence to her now, all the books he had been hiding, its so obviouse, and now, so was her choice.

"Tris Prior" Marcus called her up. she walked down to the bottom of the stage, hiding her face. She climbed up the stairs and grabbed the knife, slicing her hand and letting out a small yelp of pain. She let it drip for a moment, letting it all sink in, then she shoved her hand over the bowl.

Her blood dripping into the water.
