❄︎Chapter 8❄︎

Age 19

Six silhouettes jumped from roof top to roof top, tree to tree, as they travelled in lighting speed across Japan. The tree's budding from the late winter, as green shoots littered each branch with early morning dew dripping down each premature petal.

Shinazugawa had sliced open his arm, letting out his marechi attracting demons from all directions with its intoxicating scent.

"Demons, coming in from the front left, I'll take them." Shinobu declared as she separated from the chain and towards the Demon that she had seen.

"Taking the ones from the right." Tomioka says as he engaged on the hoard of demons coming their way.

"Shut up Tomioka, I'll be taking them on." Shinazugawa's competitive side got to him as he followed the raven-haired guy pulverising as much demons as he can.

"Us three will be taking on the ones coming from behind us." Yuki insisted as he led Rengoku and Shiro to their side of the fight.

As soon as the sun went up, either the demons have crumbled into dust or have fled the scene, but none managed to get far due to the Shinobu's intense speed.

"How far along till we reach the place Zuki-sama?" asked Shinobu as she placed her sword into her sheath, finishing up her task.

"Not long now. Right Shiro?" he answered nervously as he reverted the question to his son.

"Just an hour on I guess... I don't even know why you bothered to come along Oyaji." Shiro muttered the last part to himself.

Zuki heard it, but chose to ignore it as he urged the others to carry on travelling. However, he made no movements, Shiro rolled his eyes softly chuckling to himself as he realised that his father had no idea where to go.

"Come on then." he tugged his head over to the direction they needed to go, to which they proceeded to head over.

They arrived soon after, as Akita and Hokkaido dogs encircled a household with signs of the cult Eternal Paradise fluttering in the wind. As soon as the dogs spotted Shiro, they all started madly barking in excitement at the sight of their master. Soon after four separate demon slayers appeared from the each side of the building meeting up with their higher ups and taking a knee before them.

"Shiro-sama, you're here with the other Pillars." their highest position, a Kinoe, greeted them. Upon noticing that Zuki was with them, they had a look of surprise before greeting their elder as well "Oh... and Zuki-sama... Glad of you to join us...(?)"

Shiro humphed in disapproval at his father before he spoke to the others.

"I hope you all still have plenty of energy left." they all nodded, Shinobu eager to fight with the demon who took her sister's life. "Good. You four stay here and guard the entrance, make sure that nothing gets out of that building. The Pillars and I will be the ones entering."

The four lower ranks complied and returned to their posts, their dogs following them. The remaining six nodded at one another before splitting up into two groups: Shiro with Zuki; Shinazugawa with Shinobu; and Tomioka with Rengoku.

Shiro led the way, preparing to open the shoji before them, his hand ready to grip the wooden frame. However a hand reached out and grab his wrist, stopping his actions. Shiro's eyes travelled to the source, his father, who shook his head side to side. Shiro let out a sigh before letting Zuki handle the deed.

Zuki, slammed the door open from the side revealing a very anticlimactic genkan. No noise was heard throughout the entirety of the building. They all nodded at one another before separating into their groups.
