Ellie's never been a fan of winter, not after what happened back when she and Joel had been searching for the Fireflies. She grunts as she trudges through the snowy streets of Jackson. Pretty decorations were hanging up all over town, and as pretty as they were they didn't make Ellie dislike the season any less. Upon walking into the house she and Joel shared with Tommy and Maria she was immediately hit with the smell of cinnamon. She looked up to see Joel, Tommy, and Maria decorating a tree in the living room.

"What's all this?" She asks visibly confused by the tree in the room.

"Christmas, remember the holiday we mentioned, it was in some of the books we gave you?" Joel says and walks over and ushers Ellie into the room, "I know you don't really like winter, but I want to try and find ways help you make good memories of the season, so it's not always just about what happened back then." He says as his hand falls to his stomach, where the faded scar from that winter was hidden under his shirt.

Ellie huffs as she thinks back to one of the books she read, "Bah humbug."

"She reads a Christmas Carol one time," Tommy mutters, "Do you remember what happened to Scrooge in that story."

"Humbug." Ellie huffs.

"Ellie no." Maria sighs, "Christmas is supposed to be a happy time."

"Like I said, bah humbug. I hate winter and so I hate Christmas."

"You've never even celebrated Christmas." Tommy says.

"Humbug, I'm going to sleep, wake me when it's spring." She grumbles as she heads upstairs and slinks down the hall, to her room. She grunts as she dumps her bag on the floor and stops by her mirror, stares at herself for a moment before flopping ungracefully onto her bed, "Stupid winter... stupid Christmas...stupid David..." Ellie grumbles as she stares at the ceiling, outside voices were whooping and hollering about the snow falling from the sky. She grunts as rolls onto her side and curls up, startling at the sound of a quick knocking on her window.

"Jesus fuck!" She grunts as she shoots up, but immediately calms down at the sight of who was at her window, "Dina, what the fuck."

"You gonna let me in or not, my ass is freezing out here!" Dina says with a grin. Ellie chuckles as she gets up to open the window for her friend.

"Heh, finally, I could feel icicles forming." Dina chuckles as she climbs through the windows, with Ellie's help. Once her feet touch the floor she happily takes in the familiar sight of Ellie's room as she removes her coat and boots.

"You good?" Ellie asks after shutting the window and flopping onto the bed.

"Yeah." Dina says as she flops down next to Ellie. Then a smile forms on her face as she excitedly rolls over, "Guess what."

"Chicken butt." Ellie grins as she copies Dina's actions.

"No, I was going to say it's only couple days until Christmas."

Ellie huffs and flops onto her back again, "Seriously, what is it with everyone and this holiday?"

3 years ago Ellie and Joel had arrived in Jackson, and from the moment Dina laid eyes on Ellie she knew that she wanted to get to know the girl. She and Ellie ended up becoming good friends in a matter of days and during Ellie's first winter in Jackson, Dina learned of Ellie's hatred for the season. She never found out the reason for it, but she knew not to pry since it seemed like a touchy subject for both Ellie and Joel.
