Trauma
n.
An emotional wound or shock often having long-lasting effects

Trauma can include a broad range of things. This includes (but is not limited to) violence, car wrecks, assault, or the loss of a loved one.

If you face a tramatic event, what is your first thought? Is it one of self blame, "why me", or is it one of anger, or despair?

People mistake trauma for fault, but just because something is traumatic doesn't make it your fault. A lot of trauma is not the fault of the traumatized.

It can become hard to forget exactly what we're worth in the face of trauma. It takes our hearts, our minds, our very souls. But trauma does not decrease our worth. We are still worth just as much with our trauma as without. A damaged paintbrush still paints. So paint the world.
