Chapter five contaminated crassroads.

"Evacuated to where?!" Athena said in shock. "To Zanthia." Joshua said. "Zanthia; that's on the other side of the country!" I worried.

 "As you have no masks i assume you have no idea what happened?" Josh asked in exclamation form. "What?" Athena and i asked. "Last year the radiation plant exploded due to one of the workers toughing a machine with blood on their hands, he scared another worker who dropped metal parts into a machine processing unstable isotopes, and it exploded. For a month students were advised to stat inside and not go to school, because breathing the air outside could cause mutation, or even lung cancer. And the next month the animals started appearing as mutated and the people were just moved."

"Why are you here?" I questioned. "Well..." Josh looked nervous. "Tell us!" Athena encouraged. "The monarch decided that if a specific group if people do something illegal, they should be sent here, and i did something illegal. "What did you do?" I asked nervously. "Maybe some other day." Joshua responded. "What were the group of people?" I asked  the radiation caused some people to have certain abilities... and monarch didn't really like that, he felt threatened, so he decided to make us seem like villains and outcast us, we live in enclosed neighborhoods on watch at all time and the one time we mess something up, not only us, but our families, and our people as a whole get blamed for it." Joshua explained.

"really, whats your ability?" i said. josh giggled, come with me, josh walked into the living room and grabbed his mask, he then walked outside and onto the street. i followed, with athena short behind me. we walked out to the road. josh stared at a chunk of concrete lying on the road about the size of a common dinner table. he struggled and it floated upward and towards him, it flew at him and he jumped, and he was riding it. "i can move stuff!" he yelled, though he was clearly showing off, because you could her the struggling in his voice. He landed and gasped for breath. "we weren't allowed to use our abilities back at Zanthia." He said still breathing heavily. "oh yeah, i forgot!" josh said. "what?" said Athena. "you'll see."

he took us back inside, "you are going to need gas masks to filter out the radiation in the air, i have a whole collection in my room, you could pick one you like." "okay." i said, having never seen a gas mask in person. "come!" josh said excitedly. he went up a flight of stairs next to the door to the kitchen. Athena and i followed. his room was large, the size of an in-ground pool, it had a bed in the middle back of the room, a lamp on a stand. The room was filled roof to floor with different gas masks. "how did you get these?" Athena asked. "never telling!" josh said as if he was trying to annoy her. "pick one you like he said." i scanned the wall with awe, when my eyes fell upon a black mask with a green top hat with a big 75 on the side. Athena chose a black mask with wolf ears coming up frm the strap that goes around her head.

we heard a whistle. "Run, get out of the house go, go, go!" we ran and he followed behind us, the whistling noise got lower continuously we got outside and across the street to another house's porch. We could see it falling. and i saw a tear roll down josh's eye.
