"You Have to get up!."
"Go...p-lease...Y-o-u...nee-" the sound of my mother's voice trailed off as her head fell to the right side, her chest stopped rising and falling
"We can't stay here!.... Please!" I screamed out till a creaking sound caught my attention,
with barely enough time to process what I just saw. The house started to collapse.
It was a cold December night close to Christmas, so the wind was blowing violently up against the window upstairs. A chill runs down my spine as I wrapped my thin blanket around my bare skin It did not provide much warmth but, at least it was comforting. The smell of gunpowder assaulted my nose as my whole body jolted with the sound of glass shattering downstairs. I swung my legs off the side of the bed, the light blue blanket that I had covered myself up with dragged behind me. It had a few holes from being dragged across the rough rocky ground.
I kept it close to me as I made my way down to the long hallway, normally my mother or father would come up and say everything was alright...But, nothing. I put my hand on the edge of the wall and looked down the rouble covered stairs. There laid my father's dead body. Next to my mother fighting to survive. They were covered in rubble, blood laced the floor around them. I screamed out with tear-filled eyes.
"NO!... This can't be real!... It j-just c- cant..."
The support beams began breaking under the pressure of two stories of weight. Splinters of wood flew here and there. The cold winter wind pricked up against the bare parts of my skin that were not covered by the thin blanket I had draped over my back. Only the sound of many floors came crashing down with dust billowing everywhere. Did I remember I had to get out? I ran as fast as I could straight into a war zone. It was utter chaos. My feet bled from the bits of shrapnel that blanketed the sidewalk... I was about 6 yrs old at the time and was not clear on many things happening around me. I could no longer see the blue sky that once filled the days.
Behind me, the house that I once lived in came crashing to the ground, causing my ears to ring and my adrenaline to rush. Soldiers ran around screaming words that seemed to pass by one ear and out the other. With no parents to guide me, I made my way deeper into the war filled world that had now become my home. I often thought to myself as I wiped my still teary eyes, why me. With that thought, slowly I started walking forward tightly gripping the thin blue blanket till my knuckles had turned white.
My mind raced as I felt a cold hand tightly gripping my warm skin. Towering over me was a black-haired man who looked like he had seen many things. He was fairly built and never smiled. He did not even glance at me. The man pulled me swiftly on the ground, bullets and bombs went off around me I wanted my parents, I wanted The Warmth, I wanted to be back home in my bed. I was confused, cold and severely lost.
