Michael's POV
There isn't a part of my body and soul left untouched by the light of Calum. Lying in the faint morning sunshine playing with his messy hair while he sleeps on my chest is my new favorite way to start a day. With a deep breath I'm able to inhale all the feelings of the moment and of those passed. Never a day had gone by without negative influence but I was sure today would be it. Not a single nick or bruise would be placed on this day being this is the way I get to start it. Calum stirred only slightly when I pressed a kiss to his hair. He too took in a deep breath and when I looked back down I could see his eyelids flutter until the color of his eyes became visible.
"Morning." My voice deeper than usual and I cleared my throat.
"Morning." Calum said in mid stretch. He wiggled against me until he sat up completely, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"What are you doing today?" I asked and Calum's shoulders sank as he had finished stretching.
"Going to the mall with Ashton. He's been begging me." He smiled and I nodded. Ashton has cabin fever I'm sure and is probably of Luke's endless worrying.
"That'll be fun." I said lamely while I climbed from the bed in search of my work clothes.
Usually in the mornings my bedroom floor looked like my closet regurgitated it's contents onto the carpet. My clothes, Calum's clothes both scattered across the floor from the night before. It's almost routine now. Each day is a reflection of the day before and since we got back from our holiday, things have flourished. Calum never sleeps in his own room and every second we are allowed, we are together. Calum is the stable most enjoyable part of my day. I just hope he doesn't grow tired of me.
No, no negative today.
My hands are fumbling through the pile of discarded clothes until I finally find my work pants. Calum is still laying on the bed while I tug on fresh boxers followed by the dreadful pants I'm forced to wear. When I glance over to him he's typing away on his phone, per usual. I shake my head in a laugh as I tug my button up shirt off of the hanger to slip it on.
"What time will you be home?" Calum asked when I was in front of the mirror messing with my messy hair. It was fading gradually and I brainstormed most of the day what color I should do next.
"My shift ends at 5." I said glancing down to tuck my shirt in. When I looked back up to the mirror Calum's reflection was next to mine. He smiled sheepishly as I turned around to face him.
He makes me question my self control nearly every hour of every day. Especially when he's shirtless. The ink against his collar bone taunted me even further. It hurt that someone as beautiful as Calum could be so tainted and broken. He never deserved to be hurt in anyway or ever again. I know he's still healing and he gets sad some days but at least he is healing. It doesn't bother me that somedays he hates looking in the mirror or barely eats because it's a small price to pay when I get to see one of his smiles.
"Mikey," he rasped and I looked up to him, not realizing how close our bodies were. "You'll be late." He whispered against my lips while the brushed softly.
"But..." I said before I deepened the kiss. Calum's teeth grazed my bottom lip but slowly pulled away resting his forehead against mine.
"Go." He whispered while his eyes scanned mine.
"Fine." I groaned and pulled on my shoes. I kissed his cheek before heading towards my bedroom door. "Have fun with Ash." I called out as I moved down the hallway.
"Love you!" He called out behind me and I stopped for a moment to smile.
"Love you!" I called back before grabbing my keys and heading to work.
