The King

You found yourself in a cold, dark forest. The full moon shining brightly upon you.

"Where am I?"

You look down at yourself and see that you were wearing a dirty (F/C) shirt and (F/C) pants. You start looking around and there is nothing but trees and grass.

You start to walk and walk and walk.

The forest seemed to go on endlessly. Until you finally spot what looked like a campfire. You slowly continued making your way and stop in front of it.

You look around to see who could have made this, but there was nothing. The bushes rustled from behind you and were quick to hide in a set yourself. Peeking, you saw a figure wielding a sword in her hand which seemed to glow, standing in front of the campfire. The light from the fire was just enough to see the blood on the sword.

"What...?"

You knew it was a female because of her body shape. She was sort of fragile and small, from the looks of it. She also had blood smeared all over her clothes. You couldn't fully see the woman's face, but you can see her eyes looking down at the campfire. She looked at her bloody sword and thrust the sword into the earth, yelling in agony. You could barely see the tears spilling from her eyes, still gripping the sword tightly in her hands.

The woman was sobbing loudly and on her knees. You couldn't help but just feel sorry for her... whoever she was.

"I'm so sorry... It's all my fault..."

Her eyes fixated on the ground below her. She was still weeping. She closed her eyes and continued to talk softly.

"I-I didn't mean to. Come back to me, come back to me, come back to me..."

She opened her eyes and looked towards the skies, hands still on the sword, yelling.

"PLEASE!! I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU!! My love..."

"My heart aches deeply for you to come back. I needed you here with me... Right beside me with our children that we raised together. He made me do the dreaded things that I did... to you. I need you to guide me, through this burning place... that you once called home."

She then paused for a brief moment and sat down beside her sword, facing the starry night sky.

"I remember when we first meet..." She slightly smiled and chuckled to herself softly.

"I guess fate works in mysterious ways, huh? My love for you cannot diminish, now that there is a distance between us. Just as the moon could not be adored any less, because you now lie far away, in another world, far better than this one..."

She then burst into more tears and hugged her knees, resting her head on top. You wanted to comfort the crying woman so badly, but you knew you couldn't risk getting caught. Tears escaped your eyes, joining her.

"She's this way! I heard her!"

"I heard her too! Let's go kill the monster!"

You could hear a mob of people coming closer and closer to you. "Oh no."

The woman in front of you also heard them because she quickly wiped the tears from her eyes and withdrew her sword from the ground, retreating towards the woods again.

"ARghh!! We lost her!" One person yelled jumping out of the forest. They looked around, hoping they'd find the woman, but they couldn't.

"Let's just go. She's probably long gone by now."

They started to search around the area. You tried your best to hide from the mob but you felt an arm tightly gripping your forearm and dragging you out of the bushes and throwing you on the floor beside the fire.

"WHO ARE YOU, PEOPLE!!"

"Well well, what do we have here?" One man crowed, completely ignoring you.

"It's a young lass." The other replied grinning at you.

"It would seem so..."

"We must kill her! She might be helping the beast." A woman yelled from behind the two men, holding a burning torch. The man looked at the woman and then at you.

"Are you helping that beast?" He asked.

"What! A beast!? I don't know any beast." You pleaded as tears streamed down your face.

They both eyed you suspiciously. He grabbed his knife from his waist and held it tightly in his hand. "I'm sorry. But I don't buy that sweetheart."

"No! Ple--" He raised it over your head and let the darkness forever consume you.

"ARGHhh!" You jolted awake. "What just happened!!"

You laid back down trying to calm your beating heart. You couldn't help but think about the woman in your dreams. You wondered what she did wrong and who she was talking about. You couldn't sleep after that. So you got up from your bed and walked to your workspace, deciding to write a poem.

"My wounded heart still cries for you
Though it knows you may never return
I only yearn for one more moment
Of your sweet words
And your touch."

You woke up the next morning at your desk, pen in hand, and head on the piece of paper, which was now stuck to your face. Yesterday's event was eating you up.

You walked to your bed and lay back down on the left side, staring out of the window. Looking at people wandering around in the town market, buying spices, selling food, and cattle.

"Does he like me or is he kidding? Do I like him? But I just met him... How can this be?"

A knock persisted, interrupting your thinking. "I wonder who can that be?"

You got up and opened the door only to reveal the servant from yesterday. "I never got your name yesterday."

"Good morning, my lady. My name is Demi Emersyn." She smiled.

She was about the same height and age as you. She wore a simple brown dress with a white apron attached to her waist. She had emerald eyes and brown hair.

"That's a lovely name, Demi."

"My lady, the King wanted me to wake you and asked you to join him and the other women down for breakfast."

"I'm late?! Uhm, yeah... I'll be down there in a minute. I just need to get ready."

"Is something the matter, my lady?"

"No, everything's just fine." You lied. "Also, you don't have to call me that. Just call me (Y/N)."

"Yes, (Y/N). Before I forget, here are the clothes that the King requested for you. It gets quite hot around the kingdom." She handed you your clothes and headed off.

You quickly shower and put on the clothes that Demi brought you. The bra was (F/C) adorned with gold jewels, which covered half of the upper half of your body, only showing your belly button and the pants were also (F/C) and embroidered with gold jewels. The shoes were (F/C) and pointed at the tip. You decided to let your hair down for today.

Looking in the mirror, you mumbled to yourself. "Did he request this for me? It's quite comfortable actually... Wait, where is the dining room?"

You look around frantically, knowing you're already late as it is until you spot a guard with a spear in her hand. "Would you mind showing me where the dining room is?" You asked approaching her.
