The next morning at the temple was tense to say the least, Pearl was still angry at Amethyst and had decided to pointedly ignore her. Amethyst was unfazed by the taller gems dismissal of her and continued to raid the fridge for something to eat, while Steven started his morning ritual in the bathroom. Garnet had yet to emerge from the temple. After a few minutes of tense silence Steven had re-emerged from the bathroom fully dressed and ready to face the day, he hates lying to the gems but if they knew he was going to the barn they would stop him. "Hey guys I'm heading out into town for a while. I wont be back fo a while" He told the two gems as he opened the door. "Okay Steven stay safe now" Pearl said with a small smile. Amethyst said nothing. With that he quickly exited the building and hurried down the steps, heading towards the country instead of the town.
At the barn the gemlings had awoken and were mewling for attention, which Peridot gave them without hesitation. Picking up the tiny gems and cradling them close she purred and cooed at them, while giving them each a small kiss on their foreheads. "Good morning my babes, did you have please want dreams? I love you all. Noe Turquoise let go of your sister" with a small giggle she peeled the rambunctious gem off Chrysolite who was chirping in agitation at her sisters assault. Holding the Lapis Lazuli by her scruff Peridot brought her to eye level "Now now Turquoise play nice, you'll have all the time in the world to roughhouse with your siblings when you open your eyes. I bet your hungry right? Don't worry little ones Mama will feed you" that last sentence Peridot said to all of her gemlings smiling as they chirped clambering over each other to reach her. "Hey now be nice, everyone will get a turn." With that Peridot began to glow, the top half of her outfit had dematerialised, revealing tiny holes where a humans nipples would be, the gemlings let out loud excited chirps when they smelt this. With a smile she gathered up Emerald and Turquoise in one hand and with the other gently led Chrysolite and Kyanite to those holes. The babes eagerly latched on, absorbing the nutrients they need to grow, the other two whined in annoyance at not being the first ones "Hush now my girls, your turn will be soon" she cooed at the angry little gemlings.
When Chrysolite and Kyanite had had their fill Peridot skill-fully swapped gemlings, now Emerald and Turquoise were greedily getting nutrients. A sound at the barn door made Peridot look up with a snarl, but softened slightly when she saw it was Lapis, who was standing at the opening of the barn in awe. To her Peridot looked absolutely beautiful, her hair was messy as she had just sat up with two gemlings latched onto her upper body and the other two happily chirping at each other in her palm, her upper body was smooth and toned taking the blue gems breath away. Peridot mostly ignored he partners presence as her babes finished gaining nutrients from her, with a smile she gently placed all gemlings back down in the nest where they proceeded to roll around and chirp happily with each other. "Don't worry Peri, I'm not staying. Just wanted to check in with you and the gemlings. Any problems? Those crystal clods haven't been around have they?" She asked, barely hiding her anger with the last sentence. Peridot scoffed at that. "We are all alright, the babes are slowly coming into themselves. And no they haven't been around. I don't expect them to, the Pearl is competent and been through this. She knows to keep the others away" The green gem bluntly stated, petting the small Peridot gemling who was currently nuzzling her thigh with chirps ignoring her sisters rough housing. Lapis smiled at her family "Okay then, I'll get out of your hair. Be back In a few hours" with that she turned and spawned her wings, taking off into the sky to go who knows where. Peridot turned back to her babes and cooed when she saw they had all worn each other out and were now sleeping peacefully in a pile, letting out cheeps and purrs. The runt had also fallen asleep on her thigh, with a gentle hand she scooped her up and placed her with her sisters. It was peaceful, until a familiar voice calling her name made her pupils dilate, hair stand on end and a growl to rip from her throat. All rational thinking left her brain and left a feral instinct at that voice. It was Steven.
