an opinion on black panther

hi! so if you've seen my last post, this is another rant-ish? about marvel ish movies written in horrible english with no capitalization whatsoever (and i dare to call myself a writer lol).

so i've heard some feedback about black panther, some saying that the plot wasn't good or whatever.

and—like you care or whatever—i'd like to share my opinion about what black panther did right:

1) normalization of african culture
all too often, i've seen my african-american peers reject being african. if someone calls them african, they take it as an insult and someone like me who proudly identifies as a nigerian american is now wondering who's left to appreciate their heritage? i've seen other people my age treating the idea of africa as a nation of savages, and one girl back in 7th grade said africans pee in holes. she said this in front of me, an african (for the record, most do not. just take a look at lagos, nigeria, which is highly urbanized with modern systems). so i loved that black panther celebrated and normalized african culture in practice.

2) black! representation!
i don't even have to say much here, just to have a mostly black cast and to see your skin color on screen is very empowering.

3) well written villain
i love love love love love love love love love! villains that are written with an end goal you can understand. i mean i understood where killmonger was coming from, and that made him a complex villain with a goal more than "ruling the world!" also he had aMAZING fashion sense.

adiós, mis estrellas!

gracias para escuchan a mi!
