"No! You promised-" Sol began, his lover falling to the floor.
"He'll live. I keep my promises, after all."
The Darkness that filled him smiled cruelly, staring at the injured Sun Mage on the ground. Sol and Eli had been adrasai -soulmates of a type - and with one of the adrasa turned, Eli now had the darkness in himself. His turning was inevitable.
"You deceived me. He wasn't dying at all, until I stabbed him"
He pushed against the darkness, before realising that's what he was. He was the darkness. He raised his palm to his eye level, and tried to force out a spark of Sun Mage power. A dark flame raised from his hand, unnatural fire that he knew would heartlessly consume anything it touched, and keep going.
"You're my Shade Commander. You have no will, not anymore, Malek."
The darkness tugged at the reins, and Sol faded back into unconsciousness.
Malek awakened with new malice, and sent out the rest of his dark fog to raze the entire camp to the ground.
Eli forced himself to his knees, coughing out blood, his hand on his wound, around the weapon. He watched as everything turned to ash, and was blown away by the wind. He looked up at Sol-no, Malek - and watched as the male laughed, playing with dark fire twisting around his hand.
The sky above began to rain, and Malek looked down at Eli. He kicked Eli onto his back, and placed his booted foot onto his chest, keeping the Sun Mage down. "Good luck, Eli. You'll need all of it to 'end this', if you can."
The Sun Mage shook his head.
"It's you who will need luck, Malek," Eli grinned, red teeth displayed as he gripped the Shade's leg with both hands, and sent a stream of heat up it. The leg threatened to crumple under the pressure. "I know Sol's weaknesses, and it's his body you're using."
Malek grit his teeth, snarling at the Sun Mage, and flashed out using umbral teleportation, hiding in the shadows. Eli didn't matter; he had more important things to do.
