Chapter 31 : Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

The Other Side

Following Jin Ae every single day was starting to get boring. Today, I decided to follow Woohyun.

"Here here! Pass, here!" Woohyun shouted to Myungsoo during their intense basketball game.

Myungsoo smirked and did a beautiful throw, letting the ball bounce right into Woohyun's hands. Dribbling the ball swiftly all the way to the goal, Woohyun aimed at the goal and threw the ball into a perfect arch, making it fall right into the hoop.

"YEAHH!! WE GOT IT!!" Woohyun's whole team shouted, gathering together for a group hug.

To be honest, I didn't really like Myungsoo. When I was still alive, I couldn't stand that smug look on his face. He's always so cocky, and criticises people easily.

Just because he's good looking doesn't mean he can treat others like that. I wonder how Woohyun and Sungyeol are even his friends.

Now, I didn't like him all the more because of the way he treated Jin Ae. Even though I was grateful he "saved" her, I still couldn't stand the way he treats her. If I was there, I could have just punched him in the face.

It was the end of the basketball game, and Woohyun, Sungyeol and Myungsoo were at the side of the court, wiping their sweaty faces.

"Myungsoo ah, do you want to have dinner with us?" Sungyeol placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Who's going?" He replied, taking a sip from his water.

"Um, me, Woohyun hyung, So Jin, and Jin Ae." Sungyeol continued wiping his forehead.

"Ugh, Lee Jin Ae?" Myungsoo scrunched his face in disgust.

"Yah imma(fellow), What's wrong with Jin Ae?" Woohyun said sternly, walking up to him.

Exactly. What's wrong with Jin Ae? She's such an innocent and kind girl. Not like you.

"Are you kidding? You're asking me what's wrong with her? She's a loser. A coward." Myungsoo scoffed.

"Yah. Say that again and I'll make sure you won't stay handsome anymore." Woohyun glared at him, grabbing him by the collar.

"Yah yah yah hyung don't." Sungyeol pried Woohyun's hands away.

"Anyways, why do you not like Jin Ae? She's really nice...." Sungyeol sat down, pulling Myungsoo down with him. Woohyun followed suit.

"She's..... Just a loser. Just because Hoya is dead, she wants to attempt suicide. Like what the hell?! She hasn't suffered worse." Myungsoo scoffed once more, taking a big gulp of his water.

"You, don't even know what she's gone through. And you dare to say these type of things?! Just because you've had hard times doesn't mean she can't." Woohyun shouted, anger bubbling in him.

"Yah Myungsoo ah. You're only seeing the surface of things. Jin Ae, had a horrible life all the way. Her parents, fought when she was younger, and even now, and they don't care a thing about what she did. She only has a loving brother to depend on. Basically, her family is a broken one. She treats Woohyun and I like her brothers, and Hoya was one of the few who made her feel cherished. He was her support. And that support had vanished when he died. She was so upset, she cried everyday." Sungyeol said calmly.

As usual, Sungyeol being calm, Woohyun being reckless. These two, never change.

"She only knew we would be worried if she shows us her soft side, so she pretends to be strong in front of all of us. Even her brother." Woohyun took another big gulp of water.

That's when I saw Myungsoo's face soften. I knew he felt sorry towards her. For calling her a loser and a coward.

Glad you know. You better treat her well, Kim Myungsoo. Or else I swear, even though I'm dead, I swear I'll skin you alive.

"Feel guilty now?" Sungyeol chuckled.

"N-no! W-why would I? I just realised actually Jin Ae and I had almost the same past." Myungsoo acted cool and stood up to take his bag.

"Aren't we going? It's getting late!!" He pulled Woohyun and Sungyeol up on their feet, then pulled them out of the court.

"Let's go!!" Woohyun acted like nothing happened between them, and ran in front of them excitedly.

Pretending like they could see me, I walked alongside with Sungyeol, imagining that I was still alive.
