I dedicate this chapter to longlivebacon because she is the one that messaged me asking if I was going to post this. I had forgotten about it and you wouldn't have an update now if it weren't for her.
Chapter 5-- Interviews
_____
I was running through a field of wheat back in District 11 getting chased by Peacekeepers. They had their guns trained on my head but they didn't shoot. Climbing up a tree I looked down to see them circling around the bottom and one of them yelled "Get her!"
Multiple loud bangs rang in my ears and I felt many bullets enter my body. I felt as though I were falling out of the tree in slow motion. The clean white suits of the Peacekeepers were waiting underneath me to catch me and bring my body to my family.
Bolting up in my bed, I realized that it was only a dream. After taking multiple calming breaths, I slowly rolled myself out of the bed and out into the hallway. I saw Thresh down the hall but seeing as I didn't want to get to know someone that may or may not die in the arena, I turned on my heel and walked in the other direction towards the dining area.
White rolls filled large baskets and steaming hot breakfast dishes were laid out along the long table. Although I had been here for a few days, the amount of food always seemed to amaze me. No one in District 11 ever saw that much food in their kitchen.
Grabbing a small plate, I placed a white roll, and a few pieces of bacon on my plate. I poured a glass of water for myself and sat at the table picking at my breakfast. Thoughts of what was in store for me in the arena littered my mind. Even when I tried to shake them out of my head, they came back again.
"Reality starting to sink in?" asked Seeder.
"Yeah. The fact that in two days time I will be in an arena fighting for my life for people's entertainment has hit hard," I responded with a bit of an edge to my voice.
Shaking her head Seeder looked at me, "I know this is hard. I remember exactly how I felt sitting here but getting yourself angry and frustrated won't do you any good. You need a clear head to have any chance of winning."
I nodded knowing that what Seeder said was right.
"Now finish eating, Chive, Cashmere and Lydia will be here in about ten minutes to get you prepped for Sylvetta. When they are done, Sylvetta will be with you until it is time for your interview."
"Ok," I said simply. I wasn't overjoyed to be spending most of the day with my prep team that was always to cheery.
The rest of the morning and afternoon consisted of being waxed, poked and prodded by my prep team before Sylvetta got me into my outfit. I was wearing a blue dress that came down to about my knees. It was pretty but didn't make me stand out which I was thankful for.
I waited in line behind all the other tributes and looked at them nervously. i watched each one go on stage and do their interview. When all that was left was Thresh, me, Katniss and Peeta, I took a look at their outfits. Peeta's outfit wasn't extrodinary but when I looked at Katniss I was blown away.
Before I could continue staring, my name was called and I was ushered on stage. I was greeted by the loud cheers of the crowd until Caeser gestured for me to sit down. Despite how nervous I was, I didn't show it much.
"So Rue, we hear you got a seven as a training score. Can you tell us what you did that impressed them?"
I put on a fake smile, "I can't do that, it would give away my strategy."
"Of course, of course.," he said. He continued with some pointless questions until he finally said, "Now one more thing before our time runs out. You are the youngest and the smallest competitor in these Games and many think that there is no way you can win, what do you have to say about that?"
"Well, I am quick and know how to hide. If they can't catch me, they can't kill me so don't count me out," I replied with a quick smile before the buzzer rang signalling the end of my interview.
"Rue from District 11!" Caesar cried causing a big reaction from the crowd.
I was ushered off stage and sat down next to Thresh who gave me a head nod. My attention turned to the screen where Katniss was doing her interview.
I watched Katniss' interview and then it was time for Peeta's.
"C'mon when you get back there is no way she can say no," Caesar said.
"Well there is one problem, she came here with me," Peeta said.
Gasping, I stared in shock at what Peeta had just said. Everyone in the audience seemed to be as shocked as I was.
The buzzer rang and the rest seemed to be a flurry of being escorted away. When we finally arrived on our floor, I briskly walked to my room and shut the door. The realization that tomorrow I would be in an arena fighting for my life hit me hard. Taking a moment to catch my breath, I walked into the bathroom and stripped off my interview dress. I stepped into the shower and fiddled with the buttons. I let the warm water run off my body as I tried not to break down.
By the time my shower was done, my body was wrinkly but I felt clean. I knew this would be the last time I would feel clean for a long time. Grasping the star on my neck, I curled into a ball under the blankets knowing I would need all the sleep I could get.

Long time no update! I've finally updated! This chapter wasn't very exciting but the next one they go into the arena!!!!! Sad and exciting! That also means this story is coming to an end soon. Rue only lives for 8 days in the games so I shall have the 8 days in the arena plus a special epilogue I have planned.
One more thing, I have 2 Harry Potter Fanfiction posted on Quotev and I was wondering if anyone was interested in me posting them here on wattpad.
