Alastor leaned on my shoulder, quietly snoring. His soft ears tickled under my chin while his arms wrapped around me in a protective way. I smiled, kissing him on his cheek and laying him on my bed.
Yup, Alastor fell asleep.
But I can tell you what happened, and move onto the present.
♡
I tugged on Alastor's arm as he out me down. "C'mon, lets go to my room. I want to talk to you about something." Alastor shrugged, letting himself be dragged into my room.
I picked up the sleeping Fat Nuggets from the floor in my upper set of arms, nuzzling him close as I sat on my bed. Alastor joined me, watching Fat Nuggets with interest. "Yours?" He asked. A hint of mischief rung in his voice.
I watched Alastor's eyes carefully. "Yes...why?" For some reason, I didn't feel comfortable with his tone. I held Fat Nuggets closer to me.
Alastor smirked, dragging his pointed finger along Fat Nuggets back. Fat Nuggets winced in his sleep. "I wonder how he'd taste..." Alastor stated bluntly. I quickly pulled Fat Nuggets away from Alastor, standing up.
"Back the fuck up, Al. Your not eating him." I glared at Alastor, walking Fat Nuggets to his bed and laying him in it. I walked back to the bed, crossing my lower set of arms. Alastor laughed and ruffled my hair. "Don't worry. I wouldn't dream of it."
I punched Alastor on his arm, giving in to the temptation of smiling. "I mean it, Alastor. I love Fat Nuggets." Alastor raised his eyebrow, leaning close to my face. Way to close. I could feel the burning sensation in my cheeks. "Oh, so I can't eat your Fat Nuggets, even with a name like that?"
I pushed Alastor away from me, shaking my head. "No! He's off limits. And if you even try to eat him, I will exterminate you personally." I meant every word.
Alastor laughed at my threat, giving a slight shudder. "Aha, I see now. Your quite the demon when your trying." Alastor kissed me on my forehead. I blushed a deeper color then before. Alastor smirked, closing his eyes as he layed on my bed. "So, Angel, what'd you want to talk to me about?"
I hesitated for a moment, then cleared my throat. "W well...I feel like I might be losing it. I'm always hearing these voices...readers. And they talk about me, and Hell. I know that their real, but..." I didn't finish, looking down at Alastor. Once again, his pupils had dilated. Only this time, his head was turned exactly towards me at a 180 degree angle. He sat up immediately, seeming joyous over the news.
"Really now? I thought we were the only ones with those abilities..." His smile grew wider as he paced around the room. I crossed my lower set of arms, watching Alastor with concern. "What abilities? And who's we?"
Alastor turned his head around completely to me. Creeeepy. "Administrative abilities, my dear!" He finally turned his body around. Still creepy. "Me, Rosie, and...well, you should know."
I stared at him. "Administrative abilities? And what do you mean I should know?" This was starting to become confusing. Alastor walked back to me, nodding. "Yes. Your one of the administrators of this story. Allow me to explain."
And explain he did.
I covered my face when he finished, screaming. Alastor sat beside me. "Something the matter?" He asked, patting my back. I peeked at him, then removed my hands. "Yes. But I don't want to talk about it."
Silence.
I finally broke the awkwardness, looking at Alastor. "So, is that why I couldn't see or hear you guys earlier?" Alastor nodded, raising his hand up. "Yes, Angel. You let your powers get the best of you, thus being oblivious to everyone else."
I sighed, leaning on Alastor. I hugged him tightly with my upper set of arms, my lower ones laying on my lap. "Have you ever let your powers get the best of you?" Alastor, for a quick second, snapped his neck backwards. He pulled his head back into place by pulling on his left antler. Instead of his usual red eyes, I could only see black eyes with glowing red pupils. Oh dear.
"Of course I have, Angel. When readers show their true colors...when they hate you for what you cannot control...it takes you completely, snapping you into what you never intended to be but what they wanted you to be just for something interesting to read." With each word, the room filled with a static. Alastor started taking quick paced breaths, slowing raising his shaking hands to his ears, only to yank them down. "Its not entertainment. Its TORTURE!" Alastor's eyes switched to the thick static that continued overtaking the room.
For once, Alastor frowned.
Not in a angry way, but a saddened way.
I stood up, holding his shoulders firmly. "Alastor!" I shook him, trying to snap him out of his state. He gave a simple reply, looking down. His hair covered his face. "I want to smile for you, Angel. But I can't cope with myself."
I hugged Alastor, sighing as I rubbed his ears with my lower set of arms. "Oh Alastor...your hurting too, aren't you? I know you are..." I kissed him on his cheek. His hands slowly released his ears. I was getting through to him. "Being self-aware has had a toll on you....You haven't been able to smile for yourself in a long time."
Alastor leaned on me, whimpering. Despite his now calmer breathing, his heart pounded in his chest. I put my right upper hand on his chest, once again kissing him. "I'm here, Alastor, right by your side. Focus on me, Alastor."
Alastor slowly began to calm down. The static died down as he wrapped his arms around me, swaying us around. I continued to tranquil him. He eventually dozed off, tensing up as he did. I hugged him tightly,
I layed Alastor onto my bed, taking off his coat and folding it neatly on the edge. I looked back at Alastor, sighing.
What was he hiding from me?
