Warm up Cuddles

Winter, that time of year. The time where people would spend time with their families, friends, just anyone you care about. Well, everyday is like that, but on winter, it's just the perfect opportunity.

The temperature of Magnolia was below zero, colder than anticipated. This is the coldest the weather has been in history. Citizens were required to wear winter gear, but even that wasn't enough to warm up.

"So cold!" She wrapped herself in a blanket, similar to a burrito. Of course, she wasn't going to skip the day, she had to go to the guild either way.

It took her a while, but she forced herself off the bed, and tried to find the outfit that was the most suitable for this weather. The only thing considered appropriate was her winter coat, mittens and gloves, not forget her ACTUAL attire. Now that the stupid decision making was out of the way, she headed off to the guild, but waited to see if her best friend Natsu would tag along with her.

'Weird...'

Fairy Tail. Good name, best guild, but once you adapt, it's madness. Every single day. Natsu and Gray were fighting, stupidity as always. For once, Erza's cake wasn't destroyed, which was a relief. But it'll get smushed to the ground, just wait and see.

Lucy went up to bar, and ordered the usual strawberry milkshake. "Good morning, Mira. It's freezing..." the blonde shivered.

"Yes, the temperatures are below zero, why did you forget your blanket?" Mira asked, already thinking of her pairings. Don't ask, that's Mira for you. "Because I didn't want to bring it. I thought it would be embarrassing. And plus, I have my winter clothes."

"Ah, excuses. But there's also different ways to warm up!"

"But the chimney at my apartment isn't working. Which is the only heater I have," the blonde stated, but was interrupted by her guild mate. "You use a blanket, right? That works! Or you can cuddle, with yourself or someone." Mira fake coughed at the last phrase.

"Here, I finished the shake," she walked out, and stood at the job request board for a couple of seconds until she found the perfect mission.

"What about this one? It pays two hundred and ten thousand jewel, enough for three months of rent! Oh, there's this one too!" Lucy gushed at the amount of quests on the board.

'But who goes on a mission on Christmas Eve?'

"Lushee!" Happy flied over to her, only to see no one on the request board. Lucy quickly moved a random table, only to notice Levy reading a book, hot chocolate at hand.

"Natsu? Why is she avoiding us? Did we do something wrong?" the blue exceed asked to his partner.

"Not that I remember... but we've been entering her house more often..." Natsu held his chin in thought.

"Since when are you being thoughtful AND counting how many times you broke into her apartment?!" The conversation kept going, and to the amusement, the guild seemed to calm down. For now.

"Maybe ask why she's mad? Cause if you just stand there, you won't accomplish anything at all Natsu." The blue exceed wasn't used to seeing Natsu in awkward situations.

"He LOVES her..."

"Agreed!" Mendy smiled, running back to her sister, Wendy, with a cookie on her hand. Meanwhile, Lucy had a conversation with Levy, and that involved plans for the Holidays.

"Levy~Chan? What are your plans for Christmas?" The blonde asked her petite friend. "I don't know, Lu. I'll just read happily, no distractions."

Mendy joined the two girl's conversation. "Really? I thought you would spend time with Iro-" before the youngster could say anything, she was interrupted by Levy. "That's not relevant. Mendy, since when did you became the shipping princess?" Levy quickly changed the subject, but deep down, she was flustered and questioning herself.

"Well, she learned from Mira, after all," Lucy chuckled. A few moments later, the temperature lowered, and enough to sleep.

"Cold..." Mendy and Lucy shivered in unison. One brought a blanket with her, and the other one didn't.

'Dammit Lucy, you should've bought a blanket'

"I don't think the weather will be better soon. So, I would say to get home for the rest of the day. But since we're at the guild, it would be better to stay here." When Mira said her thoughts out loud, sometimes it was okay, like right now. Others... we don't talk about that.

Lucy didn't know what to do anymore. Without thinking, she left. Her coat wasn't doing a good job, and she wasn't the one to blame. But this weather is a mess. But it'll go away soon. The blonde entered her apartment, constantly looking out for anything that might stand out.

She locked most of her windows. Key word, most. Except one. And that was her mistake. When the window suddenly opened, she knew she had to act, fast. Her signature kick seemed to do the trick and left Natsu laying on the ground.

Lucy threw herself onto her bed, and wrapped herself like in the morning. Minutes passed, and she felt... different. Not cold, just... warmth. The kind of warmth that you could just stay like that forever.

At that moment, she got up to eat lunch, but was stopped. "Natsu? What are you doing here? Don't you know it's cold?"

"But you could get sick..." he pouted. She admired his personality, sure, he can be dense sometimes, but he cares, in his own way.

"Anyways, I'll go eat lunch, do you want anything?" No response. Ay the end of the day, both ended up cuddling on Lucy's bed. Nothing beyond that. And what's wrong with two friends spending time together?

Nothing.

But this was a day Lucy will remember.
