Ly and Den walked along the beach shore as they took in the beauty of their surroundings. Maldives have always been one of their dream destinations as they both love nature and water. Hand in hand, they walked barefoot in the sand enjoying the silence, with only the sound of the waves crashing into the shore resonating.
"Baby, have you ever imagined how it would have been if we didn't end up as roommates in volleyball camp?" Den asked
"Hmmm, maybe we should even go farther. Have you ever tried imagining how our life would have turned out if either or both of us didn't make the Philippine team that year?" Ly added.
Den laughed, "or farther still! What if we weren't volleyball players, then I don't think our paths would have crossed."
"Nope, I think we still would have found each other. Probably not thru volleyball, possibly not at that time, but definitely, I'd still find you." Ly said, pulling Den into a hug, and resting her chin on top of Den's head.
"The moment I met you, my heart always knew that you were the missing piece, my mind just took a while longer to catch up."
Den laughed and pinched Ly's side.
"Is there anything that you regret?"
"Yes."
"Yes?!?" Den asked, sounding alarmed.
"Yes, I regret that I didn't figure it out sooner. We could have together much earlier on and saved ourselves from all the misery and tears."
"I regret leaving you," Den said, twisting the bottom of Ly's shirt in an attempt to divert her emotions.
"I don't"
"Why? I hurt you."
"Yah, you did. But all of those decisions, both good and bad, they pointed you straight back to my arms."
Den let out a contented sigh and released herself from the hug. She placed her arms on Ly's back as Ly placed an arm over Den's shoulder.
"It's almost sunset.." Den said
Ly lifted Den's hand to her lips and kissed the back of it.
"Always remember Dennise, I will love you for until the sun rises and sets with every single day" and she sealed her statement with a kiss.
"How did I become so lucky?" Den jokingly asked, still with her eyes closed.
"No baby, I'm the lucky one, because I get to love you every single day."
"I love you so much Alyssa."
"And I love you too Dennise."
They walked back to their villa, holding hands, enjoying the silence and stillness of the night.
The end.
