A week flew by and Moon Dancer was back in her stall and waiting for a vet visit to see if she is in foal. I walk down the driveway and see the vet's truck near the smaller stable and start sprinting excitedly towards the barn. As soon as I got to the door, I caught my breath before continuing on to Moon's stall. I see my parents already at the stall, holding the lead as the vet checked her over. I fold my arms over the top of the door and wait in relative silence until Dr. Lake stood up. I opened the door for her as she took off her gloves and threw them into the trash that I always kept by her stall.

"So Dr. Lake," I ask, anxious at what she is going to say. "Is she pregnant?" Dr. Lake closed her case and stood up to talk to all three of us.

"Lucky for you guys she is," She bent down one final time to pick up her case. "She is a healthy horse and shouldn't have any problems but if she does give me a call straight away." We all bid the vet a good rest of her day, a huge smile on my face at the good news. I turned back to Moon and give her neck a good rub.

"You here that girl? You're going to have a baby!" I gave her a hug as she dropped her head down, nuzzling my hair and making me laugh.

"I love you too girl." I smile as I let her neck go and take a step back. I wanted to stay but I had to get going on some long overdue homework I had gotten that Friday and needed done before Monday came up in two days.

"I'll check on you later Moon." I gave her one more kiss before turning around and heading up to the house to wash up and get into comfier clothes before settling at the kitchen table to do my homework before dinner that night.

I tap my pencil against the table as I try to figure out the math problem that I have been stuck on for half an hour mumbling to myself as the dog's toe nails clicked across the tile floor. I look up to see my mom walk into the kitchen.

"Hey mom?" I ask, stretching as she got the ingredients out for dinner. "Can you help me with this problem? I can't figure it out." She walked towards the table and looked at the problem and mentally went over it.

"Why don't you plug 5 into X and 6 for Y and it should be a little easier to solve." She gave me a pat on the shoulder.

"Thanks mom," I stood up to give her a hug and to grab myself a drink. "What are you making for dinner?" I let the water run cold from the facet before I held my cup under, filling it half way before shutting the water off.

"Your favorite," She spoke as I went back to the table and sat down, taking a sip of the water. "Spaghetti with meat and mushroom sauce."

"Mmmh," I smile as I pick my pencil back up. "That sounds so good right now." She gives a small laugh as she filled the pot and put it on the stove to boil.

"Hey Grace, can you feed the Daisy while I go get your dad from the stable." My mom asked as she went to the door and put her boots on.

"Sure," I say getting up once more. "Anything else?"

"Nope." She opened the door and went outside without another word.

I smile and shake my head as I gave the border collie a pet on the head and went to the cabinet and filled the cup full before going to her dish and poured it in, the dog wagging her tail happily as I put the cup back into the bag. I heard a commotion from outside and looked out the window and saw a cop car. I mumbled under my breath as I headed upstairs to change and came back down to find the officer and my parents in the kitchen. I gave my parents a confused look as I came further into the kitchen.

"Mom? Dad?" I ask with a hint of nervousness in my voice. "What's going on here?" I leaned against the counter as I wait for an answer in the very much silent room.
