I looked at his bruised and deeply wounded body before I turned to look at Eva who was currently speaking to the Academy's doctor Gaby.
"So, what's his exact condition?" I asked before I once again looked at Jerome, I was no fool, I did know that Jerome's condition was critical.
"I'll be honest with you Alice; Jerome will not make it through the night." Gaby told me as the nurses constantly checked Jerome's vitals.
"Is there anything we can do to improve his condition?" I asked her, there had to be at least one option left to save him.
Doctor Gaby looked at me sadly before she slowly shook her head.
"He's already a lost cause Alice, he has an internal bleeding that needs to be taken care of immediately but given the amount of blood Jerome has lost the past days he is at risk of dying in the middle of a surgery." Doctor Gaby informed me before she shared the clipboard in her hands showing me the exact information of Jerome's heath state.
"Why don't you give him blood?" I asked her confused, why hadn't they done that in the first place?
"Because Jerome's genetics were severely modified to the point that not a single type of blood in now compatible with him." Doctor Gaby told me, so in another few words there was no hope for Jerome, by dusk he would be dead.
"What about my blood?" I suggested, his blood and mine were the exact same so that had to work.
"Alice you already have lost lots of blood these past days and donating some of your remaining blood to Jerome wouldn't be the wisest thing to do because this could backfire and end up killing you, there's just too much at stake." Sasha told me and she had an excellent point but that didn't mean that I would give up on Jerome, as the director of the Association every single hunter and huntress was under my responsibility.
I'd never do the same mistakes Natashia once made by selfishly placing her own needs before the wellbeing of everyone else.
"But we can't just let him die like this Eva, he's only bloody sixteen and I know for a fact that he's a good lad, he's too young to die because he had a long life ahead of him." I said trying to persuade her; we had to at least try something.
"I am aware that this is unfair Ali, but I cannot risk your life to save his enough people from the Falcon bloodline has died, we need you alive so the Empire of the Rose will be once and for all a reality." Eva told me as she met my gaze.
"The Empire of the Rose, what is that exactly?" I asked her confused, I had never heard of such thing before.
"I will give the exact details in another occasion." Eva said and I nodded understanding what she meant exactly; you never knew who could be eavesdropping on our conversation.
I looked at Jerome and realized something.
"What if I just give him a tad of my blood?" I suggested; this definitely had to work.
Eva frowned at me.
"I don't think that just giving Jerome just a small amount of your blood with immediately fix everything." Doctor Gaby told me as she looked at me confused.
I shook my head at her.
"No, you misunderstood me; I meant that I would let Jerome drink some of my blood; that would heal him, right?" I said as I looked at her with hope, I just couldn't let him die especially not like this.
"In theory it would work Alice." Doctor Gaby said as she looked at Jerome and made a pause.
"But what would be the problem in this case?" I asked her to know that there was an exception to this solution.
"If Jerome dies with your blood in his system he will turn into a vampire." Doctor Gaby said explaining what the outcome of this precipitated solution.
"Then we'll give him the blood and keep his condition stable; as soon as my blood is no longer in his system he'll be out of risk, right?" I said as I looked at them, but Eva shook her head slowly.
"Not exactly Alice, since your blood would be healing a large amount of his body your blood will be forever part of him as well, so when Jerome dies whenever he is sixteen or eighty-two, he will come back as a vampire." Eva told me, this was a huge decision and I didn't know whenever or not if I was in the position to take it.
"Well Jerome is unconscious so it's not as if I could ask him." I said; they both had to understand that not only were we running out of options but of time as well.
"What are you doing here all by yourself mister?" I asked him as I headed towards the balcony with Kyle in my arms.
My dad turned around and looked at me with a smile.
"How are you doing princess?" My dad asked me as he gave me a half hug and kissed the top of my head.
"I'm alright, much better than before." I said smiling as I looked at Kyle who was currently playing with my locket and the snowflake necklace Ryder had given me.
"Then why did hear that there were some issues with you earlier and the food?" My dad asked me as he eyed me with a smirk.
I gave a small chuckle in amusement; of course, I should've expected that someone would tell him eventually.
"Eleanor is quite stubborn on making me eats lots of healthy and tasteless food along with resting; can't I just drink a bag of blood and call it a day?" I said as I tried to give him puppy look.
My dad laughed in response and shook his head in amusement.
"You're exactly like your mother, whenever she was sick or wounded, she placed on her brave face despite the fact that in many occasions the pain was too much to bear." My dad said as he looked at me with a bittersweet look, I knew that no matter what I would constantly remind him of her.
I heard a loud cry and looked at the battlefield that was nearby where several hunters were constantly training.
"For how long they have been doing this?" I asked as I looked at all of them, their improvement was quite noticeable.
"For nearly an hour now." My dad said as he stared at Eva who was currently showing the hunters with Felix's help new moves so their attacks could be more lethal.
I looked at my dad with a smirk, he was so busted.
"So, are you here to see them practice or are you only here to check out Eva?" I asked my dad before I bit my lip to keep myself from smiling.
My dad looked at me shocked.
"And how did you even come with that conclusion to begin with?" My dad asked me as he turned so he was completely facing me, alright so now I had his total attention.
I rolled my eyes at him.
"I'm not bloody blind dad; I perfectly saw how you were looking at her." I said accusing him; he had to come clean now.
My dad really didn't have another choice; he knew better than to lie to me. He took a deep breath before he met my gaze.
"It's not in the way you think Alice; I don't look at Eva like that." My dad confessed in a very honest voice.
I frowned at him confused, he didn't.
"You don't?" I said slightly bewildered.
"My relationship with Eva is not like that, she was after all one of your mum's dearest friends, she was the one who raised you as if you were her daughter and was there when I wasn't but other than being grateful towards her there is nothing." My dad told me.
"So, you don't like her?" I asked him in a small voice.
My dad smiled at me and shook his head.
"Not in the way you're implying, no I don't." He admitted.
"But in some way, she has become your soul mate." I objected, didn't that mean something?
My dad nodded as he realized what I meant with all of this.
"She is, but princess remember that it's only because she has your mother's essence but other than that you need to have in mind that Eva is not her; I will never be able to look at another woman in the exact same way I looked at your mother." My dad said as I felt my eyes get watery.
"You truly did love her." I said as I looked at him proudly.
"More than anything in my life and both you and Mason are living proof of our love." My dad told me.
I gave a small chuckle.
"That's very reassuring." I said joking.
"Besides even if that wasn't the case, Eva's heart is already taken." My dad said as he gestured the battlefield.
I turned around and saw how an incredible handsome man walked up to Eva before grabbing her waist and pulling her in for a kiss.
"Whoa." I said taken back as I stared at them completely shocked, when the bloody hell had this happened?
