Chapter 19: I never agreed to this

"Are you gonna be quiet for the whole ride?" Colton pulls out my left earphone, altogether ruining my mood even more.

"What's your problem, dude?!" I snap at him and his rude action. "Would you just leave me be for once?"

"Chill, princess," he chuckles, unaffected by my outburst. "I'm just trying to spark a conversation for the time being."

Can this ride take any longer?!

We've been driving for at least ten minutes and it still doesn't seem like we'll be arriving at Tristan's place anytime soon. I know that ten minutes isn't long, but in this situation, where I'm stuck with the annoying Colton, ten minutes is ten minutes too much.

"Well spark a conversation with someone who is actually interested in talking to you," I tell him before plugging back my earphone into my ear.

"Are you always this impolite?" Colton takes out my earphone again. "Or am I just the unlucky guy to get the wrong end of the stick?"

"Look who's talking," I snort. "The first time I saw you I complimented you, yet you decided to be rude to me for nothing."

"I was having a bad day and I guess I took out my frustration on you." He scratches his head with his right hand, while his other hand remains on the wheel.

"And I received the wrong end of the stick," I look at him with a bored expression on my face.

"I'm sorry."

"I'll forgive you on one condition," I stare at him intensely for no reason at all.

"And that is?" He turns his head my way and catches me staring. "You staring at me like that is creepy."

"If you, my friend, tells me what got you in such a sour mood that day." I continue to stare at him despite his comment.

"So we're friends now?" He smirks charmingly at me, before pulling into the driveway of an expensive looking double-story house.

I forgot the Wilders own properties almost anywhere.

"Never in a million years," I shake my head. "Just answer the question or you're not forgiven."

"Fine," Colton sighs, turns off the car engine, and looks at me. "I broke up with my girlfriend of three years." He sighs.

"Good for her," I shrug casually, although playfully at the same time.

"You're impossible, you know that?" he rolls his eyes at me.

"Why did you break up?"

"She never had time for me and so we gradually drifted apart."

"Did she cheat on you?" Sue me for being curious.

"Aren't you a too curious?" he smirks once more at me. "But to answer your question, no, she didn't cheat."

"Well, she ain't missing out on anything," I shrug just to hopefully lighten the atmosphere.

"Look who's being mean now?" he laughs.

"Are you guys coming in or what?" Jordan pops up next to my open window with a grin. "Unless you want more time to lean in for a kiss."

"Ew, Jordan," I cringe at the thought. "You really like making things awkward between people, don't you?" I open the car door roughly so that it can hopefully hit Jordan and knock some maturity into him, but he dodges it.
