Lexy's POV
I can't believe it! Woods is standing right there! I don't know why I'm so shocked and happy to see him. I don't even know him. He seemed frozen in place until someone called to him. I was starting to panic so I went to find Nat. She introduced me to her friends and she was shocked when I told her that I had already met that friend. It was a little funny. When she introduced Woods to me I felt myself tensung up for some strange reason. I couldn't relax. Amanda called for Nat to come help her so Woods and I stood there by ourselves. I relaxed a little bit but not much. He must have noticed since he asked if I wanted to go tall to Sam and Cat. When he walked away I finally felt myself breathe. I had a nice long conversation with Cat and Sam but my mind kept wandering back to Woods. Why am I tensing up so much? I should talk to Nat later at home. Soon Matt was calling for us to come get our hamburgers and hot dogs. I watched as Connor, Paul, Tanner, Pat, and Woods climbed out of the pool. They grabbed their towels to dry off a little and put on their shirts. I couldn't help but watch Woods the entire time. I snapped out of it when Sam and Pat ran around me screaming and laughing, Pat was trying to dump ice water on Sam. I didn't get much to eat but I knew Nat and Amanda would get concerned if I didn't eat anything. I joined in the laughter as they cracked jokes and made fun of each other. Once again I felt a longing to be a part of their inner circle. To have them as my close friends. All of a sudden I started feeling panicky. My anxiety was starting to sky rocket and I don't know why. I managed to get to Amanda and whispered for help. She wrapped her arm around me and started walking me towards the back door. She got Nat's attention discreetly. They sat me on the couch and got me calmed down. "Are you okay? What happened?" Amanda asked quietly. I shook my head in confusion, "I don't know! I've been doing fine then my anxiety came out of no where!" Nat and Amanda looked at each other. "Are you sure it was nothing? You're anxiety always comes from something being triggered." Nat said, very concerned. Should I tell them? But then would that mean that Woods caused the attack? If I tell them would they be just as confused as me or would they judge me? "I think I know but I'm not sure exactly." I said bluntly. They nodded to tell me they were listening. "So far I've been fine. Especially with the guys. I've gotten a little tense with them except one person and I don't know why! He's the nicest person out there!" The confusion was evident on their faces. "Who?" "Woods!" I said surprising myself. I hadn't planned on telling them who. They were just as shocked as I was. "Woods? Are you sure?" Nat whispered. I nodded getting tears in my eyes. "I don't know why! He's so kind, caring, and is the opposite kind of person that normally triggers my attacks. Why?!" I'm pretty sure I sounded desperate but I didn't care. I needed some answers. What Amanda said next shocked me through and through. "Maybe it's because you have some feelings for him and you're scared to admit it. After what Kent did to you you're afraid to be close to another guy you have feelings for." Nat and I just looked at her. "That would make sense. Lex, do you have feelings for Woods?" I nodded. "Don't be ashamed to admit it Lexy, we aren't ones to judge others. You know that!" Amanda said rubbing my back. "How long have you felt this way? You met him while back so this wouldn't be happening if you hadn't already known." Nat asked me. She didn't sound harsh or mean. I could tell she was being genuine and trying to help me sort this out. "Probably since Tuesday. That's when I met him." Realization dawned on Nat's face. "You told me you've been sleeping better the past 3 nights right?" She asked. "Yeah? What has that to do with this?" I asked. "Can you remember what your last thought is every night?" She asked eagerly, piecing whatever was in her mind together. That's when it hit me and I understood what she was saying. We both looked at each other and whispered "Woods!" Nat and Amanda gave me a hug and told me they could see I needed time to think and to call for them if I need anything. I sat there for awhile pondering what we discovered. I realized Amanda had been right. I'm scared to admit I have feelings for someone. After awhile I stood up and went back outside. Everyone was in the pool.It was now close to 10 o'clock, everyone had eaten and were playing in the pool again. Lexy was sitting in a chair watching them. She was content watching them but she decided to go sit next to the pool in case she decided to get in. When Lexy had gone back outside Catherine and Sam talked with her a lot and Lexy was grateful. She felt that they could become great friends. She had seen how they were with the others and she knew that she was accepted and that they care about her. She was hopeful that her anxiety would go away as she spent more time around them all. She wasn't doing too bad tonight. She had only had one anxiety attack whereas she normally would have 3 if she was with anyone else. She took off her shirt and skirt and set them in the bag that she and Nat had brought for their swim stuff. As she sat down by the pool almost everyone gave her a smile. They were currently playing tag. Paul was It. She smiled as people got dunked and tagged when they were caught by surprise. "Maybe I'll get in now." She thought to herself. She put her feet in the water and slowly lowered herself into the pool. She was in the shallow end and almost everyone was over in the deep end. She saw Woods coming towards her.
Woods' POV
I saw that Lexy had come over and sat at the edge of the pool watching. A lot of us gave her a smile but were quickly distracted since Paul was It and getting close. I was a little worried about her. Earlier she went inside with Nat and Amanda and didn't come out for almost an hour after they came back outside. I asked Nat if she was okay. She had looked towards the house and told me that she would be fine, she just needed to take a break. It seemed like there was something she wasn't telling me but I left it alone. Pat was now It and he managed to catch Sam and dunk her. We all laughed and swam away from Sam. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Lexy slowly getting into the shallow end of the pool, wading into the waist high water. No one else was paying attention to her at the moment. I decided I'd go keep her company. I swam over to her. "Hey." I said. She gave me a small smile. "Hi." She had sat on the steps in the pool so I sat next to her. "How are you doing?" She looked at me confused and a little warily. "Why do you ask?" I looked at her and then back at the others. "You went inside with Nat and Amanda for awhile. Nat said you were taking a break for a little bit. Meeting new people must be overwhelming for you?" I hoped I wasn't taking it to far but I was genuinely concerned for her. She seemed to have noticed my concern. "It can be. I haven't been to many activities like this in a couple of months. Not after--." She quickly caught herself with whatever she was going to say. I could tell whatever it was either scared her or it had a deeper meaning. I just left it alone. "I see. I don't go to a whole lot of get togethers either. If I do it's always with these guys." I said motioning to the others. We were quiet for a little while. "So how did you meet Natalie?" She asked me. "She worked at Hi5 for couple of years. We all are good friends with her." She seemed to understand. "So you guys must be the 'friends she hasn't seen in awhile' that she talks about. What do you do at Hi5?" She asked. I looked at her and smiled, "It's a YouTube company. We have different channels there." A look of total interest crossed her face and she leaned forward a little bit. "You guys have YouTube channels!?" I nodded. "Yea. We have a lot actually. Some of us vlog and then there are channels that do challenges." "What kind of challenges?!" I chuckled. "There's a nerf channel where they do challenges with nerf guns, a gaming channel, a channel where they rate different products Dope or Nope, a channel that does random challenges. A channel that destroys different items. There's quite a few." She was very interested in what I was saying. "Could you text me the names of the channels?" She asked with a little bit of excitement. I chuckled, "Of course! I would just need your number." She stood up, "I'll go get my phone." I stood up and followed her. She wrapped a towel around herself and I did the same. I picked up my phone from off of my shirt as she grabbed hers from out of her bag. We exchanged numbers. "I'll text you the list of channels tomorrow if that's okay." She looked at me and nodded. We continued to talk and the others started filing out of the pool to dry off. Everyone sat in the circle of chairs. Lexy and I were sitting on the swing. Everyone was talking about what game we should play while we dried off to leave. They had decided on Truth or Dare. Lexy said she didn't feel like playing. After about 30 minutes I felt a weight on my shoulder. I looked over and saw that Lexy had laid her head on my shoulder and was trying hard not to fall asleep. I looked over at Nat. Matt ended the game and everyone started cleaning up. Lexy had fallen asleep by now. When Nat had all of their things in her car she came to get me. "Could you carry her to the car? We can wake her up if we have to." "Yeah sure." I adjusted enough to slip my arm around her back and slid my arm under her knees. She started to wake up and looked at me very confused. "It's okay, I'm just taking you to the car." She rested her head on my shoulder as I carried her to the car. Her hair smells like apples and cinnamon. I could get used to this honestly. But I still don't really know much about her. I can change that though. I'll talk to Nat about doing some more get togethers so then I could get to know Lexy more. I reached the passenger door. "Lexy, we're at the car." I said quietly in her ear. She was reluctant but let me set her feet down. She clung to me as Nat opened the door. I helped her get into the car and then stood back to shut the door. "Thanks Woods. I appreciate it." I nodded, "No problem. I'm glad I could help." She gave me a smile and then got into the driver's seat. As the car pulled away it felt like a part of me was missing. I slowly headed back to the backyard to help clean up and then get ready to head home.
