VIA P.O.V.
I wake up with the sound of chatter coming from all angles. I open my eyes and look around to see why everyone is soo loud. Then I realize that the plane has landed. Finally, no more having to listen to this idiot snoring the entire plane ride. I stretch and release a well deserved sigh.
"At least I can stretch before we start walking." I say as my arms are unfolded above my head.
Leo stops packing his stuff and looks over at me.
"Yea, I guess, but considering you were sleeping for pretty much the entire flight, you missed crossing over the ocean and landing in a new country." He responds.
Oh yea, I almost forgot that we weren't in Italy anymore. We are in America.
"Not like I wanted to move in the first place." I mention.
He sighs and nods his head.
"I know V, it's not like I'm jumping for joy either, but it's what we have to do. No need complaining over that now considering we are already in the States."
I ignore him and fold the blanket in a small, compact square and hand it to the lady waiting outside the plane.
"Thank you for riding with us! Enjoy your Saturday in the United States." She responds. I nod my head slightly and head off the plane.
My first step in another country. How strange, I don't feel any different. It's just going to be my home now, not Italy. I won't see Mrs. Emillia baking her signature cookies or Sergio, the head cook at my favorite restaurant, cook my favorite dish anymore. It is depressing. I won't be able to spend time in the fields anymore, no picking the delicate flowers or smelling the various scents that come off of the multicolored plants. I'll have to find something to take my mind off of Italy. I step onto the hallway floor and head towards the end of the gate.
"Okay Via, we are here, in America." Leo says as we get out.
I inspect the surrounding scene at the airport. Already It's too hot. Extremely humid and muggy. Hopefully we aren't staying anywhere this unbearable heat.
We head out towards the main section of the airport and attempt to locate the baggage area. I look around and spot the sign above us that says" Baggage area in Section 3" I tug on his arm and point to the sign.
"Isn't that where we are supposed to claim our baggage?" I announce smartly.
He huffs and acts like he already saw the sign before I did.
"Yea it is, but I already knew that, Via, I saw it waayyy before you did." He exclaims childishly.
"Sure you did." I respond sarcastically.
10 minutes later...
We are in front of the baggage area. I search for my luggage and once I spot the dark black suitcase with red spider lilies I smile happily and grab my suitcase. I look over to Leo who is having a difficult time finding his bag. I go over to the other side and wait for his purple suitcase to appear. A few moments later, it comes sliding around the corner and stops at the end of the machine. I hurry over and grab it before it goes back into the sorting area.
"Leo! I found your luggage." I yell over to him.
He looks up from the moving belt and smiles wide.
"You found it! Thank God, if I didn't find it I would have flipped shit." He says happily.
Now that we both have our suitcases, we go over to the people holding the signs and search for our names. He gave them a part of our last name that is, we wouldn't want a spy to see our name out and the open.
After waiting for the groups of people to leave around us, we see a small group of three waiting by the large puller holding up the sign that says " For Nay " with hearts all over it. Leo says that they are who we are going to be staying with. After finishing his sentence, he suddenly runs over to the group and hugs them.
"It's so nice to see you guys again! Thanks for having us, Mr. and Mrs. M-Oh! And this is my sister, Via," he directs their attention to me.
"Via come over here and say hi." He says cheerfully.
I walk swiftly over to where they are located and set my suitcase on the hovering platform.
"Oh Via, how nice to see you! I've heard soo much from Leo. I know it's going to be hard coming to entirely new country, but I'm sure you'll love it!" She embraces me in a hug and pulls apart to introduce the rest of the group.
"My name is Juliana, and this is my husband, Viktor. Over to the left is my son, Valentino, or Valen for short. He's a sweetheart so don't be shy to ask as many questions as you'd like!" Already I can tell that she is very cheerful.
She looks like she's in her late 30's. Petite woman with beautiful raven hair and light honey eyes. I'm sure if she walked in the sunlight, her hair would shimmer black and blue. Her husband, on the other hand, resembles a Russian lumberjack. Huge and hairy. I can smell the woods radiating off of him.
Hopefully they live by the woods. That would be amazing. No sarcasm intended. I would be genuinely happy.
Valen goes around his mother and steps towards me.
"Hello there, Via, nice to meet you." He reaches for my hand and kisses the top of it, ever so gently.
I can feel the heat rising to my cheeks.
"N-Nice to meet you as well, Valen." I slightly pull my hand away and attempt to not look like a ripe tomato.
Fucking idiot.
Leo comes closer to all of us and smiles brightly.
"See? Already everyone is getting along! Even you Mr. V." He throws that last bit in there sheepishly.
Although, now that I think of it, Mr. M hasn't said a word this entire time.
"Hello Mr. Viktor my name is Via, it's very nice to meet you." I say awkwardly.
He looks down at me and smiles. Instead of talking, he uses various quick hand signals to his wife. She nods and turns to me.
" He says you are lovely, dear. He's happy to welcome you both into our home." She smiles and glancing over at Mr. V. Turns out he's also smiling.
A small smile rose up as I follow the rest of the group towards the car lot. This is a good start, I will admit. I think this might actually be good for me. For us.
