10. No place to go

I kept running until I found the road. I realized that had no place to go to, I couldn't go back to my house my mom would freak out if she saw me at that state and it's not like I could actually tell her what happened. She would think that I am insane and probably would lock me in some kind of psychiatric clinic thinking that I am a danger to myself. I couldn't go to my girlfriends because I didn't trust them enough and at that point, I had to keep running to get away from Jason who probably was waiting there to eat me alive.
There was only one place left but I didn't know if I was welcome there either. I decided to go there, I needed to talk to someone. In the whole way to Leo's house, I was shaking and crying. I could feel my tears rolling down my cheeks. Some of them landed on the ground while others landed on my shirt and shoes. I wiped my cheeks and realized that there was also blood on my face. I laughed bitterly, I didn't care, I was just glad I was alive. My father was right when he told me that this world is full of evil things that want to harm us. I don't think he was talking about this kind of things though.
When I arrived at Leo's house I knocked and hoped that he would be the only one inside. After a few seconds, I heard steps."You know you don't have to come back every time you forget your keys you can come inside from the window." he whined while opening the door. When he saw me he froze."What the actual fuck?" his jaw fell to the floor. "That's why I thought I was smelling blood..." he mumbled to himself.
"Leo, I think I'm losing my mind." I started to sob."What happened to you?" he asked sounding concerned."I'm not insane." I whispered."I know you're not. Come inside tell me what happened." he made some room for me to come in."They did it, they want me dead. They attacked me. I am not insane." he looked at me with a pained expression on his face."Karma, I think you're having a mental breakdown. I need you to calm down and tell me what happened." I did as he instructed. The thing is that before I could tell him anything my eyes rolled back and everything turned black.
I woke up laying on something really, really soft. I looked around and when I realized I wasn't at my house, I screamed."Karma relax, you're safe. You're with me."Leo tried to calm me down with his soft voice. I followed the sound of his voice and saw him sitting on a chair close to my bed."You were bleeding from your nose and ears. I cleaned you. How are you feeling?" he asked tucking my hair behind my ear. I shifted so that I was now sitting on his bed and not laying down on it."Like I was hit by a bus." I replied honestly. He laughed and his beautiful blue eyes sparkled.
"Thank god your spirit is back. So, tell me, clumsy little girl, what the hell happened?" his question triggered memories that I wanted to forget."You'll probably think I am crazy." he shook his head."No, I won't. I swear I won't." he said confidently.
"Before I tell you, what time is it?" my mom was waiting for me at home she would be worried."Well, it's almost three o'clock." he said while looking at the watch on his wrist."My mom..." I tried to get up to leave but he placed a hand on my shoulder."I took care of it. I texted her that you will have lunch with us today." he assured me and I looked at him wide-eyed."How did you open my phone? It has a password!" he chuckled."I've seen you typing the password before and I remember it." I'm typing really fast how the hell was able to see that?
"Now tell me what happened." I sighed. I just wanted all this to be an awful dream."It's not easy you know, I don't even know if I did the right thing coming here, but after what happened to me, I didn't know where else to go."I started to cry again."Karma, it's fine. You're safe here, I would never let anyone harm you. You can tell me anything, I'll help you." he sounded sincere.
How is it possible that this boy that sounded so heartless yesterday is actually so kind?
"Today, I went with Jason to the woods." I started and I could already tell that Leo didn't like the beginning of the story."We were having a really good time, I...I even told him something really personal and then..." my voice was starting to break. Leo was looking at me with real concern stroking my back with his hand trying to soothe me."Then he told me to race with him to his cabin and disappeared. I started looking for him and then these women appeared. They were witches! I swear the god they were. They wanted to sacrifice me and Jason wanted to rape me or to kill me I don't know!" I started to shake and sob at the memory.
I trusted him. That fucking bastard.
"Karma, darling, tell me what happened exactly." It felt like Leo knew exactly what Jason wanted to do to me."I told you!" I snapped at the blonde boy."Listen to me, I need more details." he said and I tried to answer but I couldn't stop crying. I kept trying to talk but I was just crying harder and harder.
"Karma, don't push yourself so hard, relax and tell me when you are ready." he gave me a couple of tissues."These women formed a circle around me and they were speaking a language that I couldn't understand. I tried to leave but then my chest started hurting and soon enough I couldn't see or hear anything. After some point, I couldn't breathe." Leo was looking at me with such pity in his eyes, he felt sorry that such a thing happened to me.
"They fucking lifted me from the ground." I started to take the deep breaths preparing myself to tell him what I did and hoped that he wouldn't hate me after."Then I stopped them." he looked at me confused."How?" he raised an eyebrow."I didn't do it on purpose. Roots came out of the ground and swirled around them. At first, I didn't even know I was doing it." a sly smile appeared on his perfect lips."You wicked little witch."I looked at him like he was insane.
"What kind of spell did you use to overpower a group of black witches?" he questioned."I didn't do a spell. I don't know any spells. It just happened." he seemed lost in thought."I think I know what you are...I've never met anyone from your kind before, everyone thinks you are extinct. You have to be a witch of the four elements or a nature witch like some people call you. You can control your environment, the air, the water, the soil and the plants. Also, you can produce fire." he sounded way more excited than he should.
"Are you sure? How is this possible?" I couldn't comprehend how he was so cool with the fact that I was a witch, I was totally losing it. I wanted all to be a huge lie, a huge nasty prank."That has to be it.No ordinary witch can do what you did. What's your last name?" He questioned. "Marshall." I responded and he started thinking once again."There is no family with that name whose members are nature witches." he bit his lip."Then maybe I'm not a witch." I believed what I wanted to believe."You have to be. Roots don't come out of the ground on the Ir own." he had a point.
"Why do you think that Jason wanted to rape you?" he changed the subject completely."Because he did. When these evil women left he appeared in front of me butt naked. I even saw his...Jesus!" I hissed and run a hand through my hair."I can't believe that the boy that I trusted so much did this to me. He wanted to rape me and kill me, Leo. He even admitted it. He said that he regretted doing something like that." I told him and he sighed.
"I had a crush on him." I confessed and he smiled."How could you smile when I told what he did?" I asked him ready to cry again."Listen to Karma, I'm pretty sure that I know what happened. Jason is not a bad guy he just wasn't thinking rationally." I started to get angry."I almost died because of him. He was working with the witches." I spat.
"Well, I think that the witches were actually working for him." I bolded my fists."And that makes the situation better how? You still insist that he is a nice guy after that?" I asked growling."Let me explain. Yes, he made a mistake but he didn't want to hurt you. I swear that to you. He did what he did because he was forced, he cares about you I swear. He even told me to stay away from you because he knew what I was." he tried to defend Jason."He appeared in front of me naked." I said once again so that he could understand that Jason is not a good guy.
"It wasn't because he wanted to rape you, he is a werewolf. Apparently, the guy changed to his wolf before finding you. He cares and he would never rape you.I'm not saying that what he did was fine but the guy regretted it. Give him a chance to explain himself." he said calmly."Tell me why he did what he did." I demanded and he sighed."I can't my little clumsy girl, you should ask him. I already told you way too much." I rolled my eyes.
"I will never go near him again. He forced those women to attack me and he changes into a wolf." he chuckled."You can try but let's face it, you can't." he sounded sure about it."I don't want to see that bastard ever again Leo." he bit his lip playfully."You say that now that you are mad but in the end, you will forgive him and you'll start missing him. He can't stay away from you either." I snorted."How do you know that?" I asked him and he laughed."It's a werewolf thing." I shook my head."Whatever he will have to get used
"So, I am a witch. Jason is a huge dog..." I started to say but he interrupted me."Don't say that to him because he won't like it at all." he broke into laughter."Let me finish, Leochu." when he heard his nickname a cheeky grin appeared on his face."What I wanted to ask is, what are you?" he raised his brow."How do you know that I am something?" he asked curiously."You wouldn't know all these things if you were human." he looked at me proudly."You are right, little clumsy girl. So, take a guess what am I?" a perfect sly smile appeared on his luscious lips.
I took one moment to think about it. He had perfect reflexes, great looks and he looks like he has a lot of experience."A vampire." I said and he looked at me surprised."Damn Karma, yeah that's it. I'm a better version of Edward Cullen." he sounded excited."At least if a car is about to hit me, you'll stop it." he laughed."You're recovering quickly. You're already the old Karma." I rolled my eyes while he ruffled my hair.
"It's time for me to go. I have to stay alone for a little to clear my head." I got up from his bed. He just nodded."Can you give me a ride home? I'm kind of scared to go by foot." I bit the inside of my cheek nervously.

"Let's go clumsy one." he motioned me to get going. He opened the door of his big black jeep for me smiling. When he got inside he turned the engine on and started to drive towards my house."I'm curious about something." he said."Then feel free to ask." I told him and he cleared his throat."You are not afraid of me, why is that?" his eyes left the road for a few seconds."Do you want me to be afraid of you?" I cocked my brow and he shook his head."No, but most people would be afraid of me if I told them." he shrugged."Well, if you try to kill me I will choke you with my roots." he was right, I was way calmer than before."Your adaptability is amazing." he mentioned and I playfully rolled my eyes but he didn't see it.
"If you're a vampire, that makes your sister also a vampire?" I asked him."Well, we are not blood-related but we are like family. Yes, she is a vampire. Our mom is a vampire too." he answered."What about Serena? Is she human?" he stopped at a red light."No, she is a werewolf, like Jason and his friend Noah." he explained."What about my friends?" I wondered."Human both of them." he parked right in front of my house."Thanks for the ride and for today." I said placing my hand on his shoulder."Don't mention it clumsy one." he smirked.
"I know that you'll talk to Jason at some point. When you do tell him that I need space and that means that i don't want him around me at all and please don't say anything about me being a witch or whatever am I." he nodded."As you please your highness." he said smiling and i got out of the car."Thanks again." I yelled and he left. How am I supposed to handle this mess?
