Freedom

46 2 2

She closes her eyes

To keep the tears from falling.

Unable to ignore the cries

And crude names she hear him calling.

She stands on shaking legs

Only to be pushed down once more.

Her voice a whisper as she begs

Body battered bruised and sore.

Until finally,

Nothing.

She feels no pain.

No more yelling.

No more strain.

And opens her eyes

To let the tears fall freely

She gasps in surprise

To find she has found freedom

Truly,

Really.
