A Mother's Love

Chapter 11

As I step onto the bridge, I find the warrior four, Stark, Rogers, Barton, and Natasha are dressed in all black.

Stark looks to me and asks "You got the memo, too, huh?" I look down at my clothes and hum.

"I don't quite understand why we have to dress in black." I state.

"It's easier for me to make you disappear if you're not neon pink." Loki states, as he steps onto the bridge.

I look to him to find he's slicked back his hair, and wears all black. He motions down the hall "The doctor is setting up the reactor."

I furrow my brow and ask "The one from New York?"

He shrugs, before scratching his forehead "If it isn't broke, why fix it?" I cock an eyebrow to him and he explains "If I open a portal, I get fatigued and my nose bleeds. Heimdall can't take us there, and I already primed a portal opening, over there."

I give a confused look and ask "Is that what you planned to use when you were up on that mountain?"

He takes in a deep breath "A thousand years ago, there was a fire at the base of the mountain. The Viking Clan climbed to try to escape the heat, and huddled in the tallest cave. They ended up perishing of smoke inhalation."

He shakes his head and clarifies "That tragedy leads to the souls to grow powerful." He takes in a deep breath "All of that power just builds. It was ripe for the taking. It just wasn't enough to open a portal."

I give a short nod, before Loki presses against the ear with two fingers "Copy." He states, before looking to all of us "Banner has the reactor ready."

He drops his hand and Stark smirks "You've got an earpiece?" Loki hums, before starting down the hall.

As we stand next to the reactor, Banner hands me an earpiece. I furrow my brow and follow what Stark is doing.

When I shove it into my ear, Odin and Frigga step in and Odin looks to me "Where's Mjonir?"

I shake my head, before declaring "Not taking it." He cocks an eyebrow to me and I declare "It's too bulky. It'll get in the way."

He steps forward and declares "You are the only one who may wield it's power. You mustn't leave it behind!"

I furrow my brow at him and state "If there's a possibility of being caught because of it, I'd surely leave it behind."

He's about to say something, when Banner starts the reactor. As it shoots out and the portal begins to open, Loki pulls out his daggers and motions towards my chest "I grabbed you a battle axe."

I smile at him "I suspect you will give it to me when we're in?" He nods, before I ask "What time will it be, over there?"

He shrugs "About supper. With any luck, everyone is drunk or fighting for daddy's approval."

I give a confused look "Daddy's approval?"

He shakes his head and sighs as he looks towards the portal "Forget it. We should get going."

I nod, before he looks around the room. He nods, before declaring "Let's go."

As he kneels in front of the portal, he grabs hold of the ground below and grunts as he pulls himself up.

After a long moment, I see he stares down at the top of the portal, causing sand to fall onto the ground.

He holds out his hand and orders "Thor, get over here!"

Obediently, I step forward and take his hand. As he pulls me up, I feel my center of gravity change.

When I stand, I find a world in ruin. An enormous ship, just as Loki displayed, docks a few hundred meters away.
