Chapter 28

Sally's POV

I could never really control the roads my heart decided to take. I don't think anybody can. Which brings me to the present.

Its the early hours of night as I sit by the lake, contemplating about my talk with LJ and Toby from last night. Was I really starting to have feelings towards Liu? I pondered over my encounters with him. I could still remember waking up to him after he rescued me. Who was I really kidding, I was a goner the moment I saw those intense eyes and handsomely sculpted face. Not that those were the only things that drew me to him. There were just so many layers to the enigma that is Liu Woods that I couldn't refrain from getting lost in the maze that is him.

Then there was Sully. While he came off as an all around grump, I couldn't just help finding him sweet as well. They were basically the same person, but I couldn't help but imagine Sully being somewhat of a protective brother to Liu. He was just protecting Liu from getting hurt again and I really could relate to that. I mean we all put up metaphorical walls after being hurt. His wall was just a bit different, but wall nonetheless. 

"I kept waving at you from the other side... you were too lost in your world I guess." His voice startled me.

I looked over my shoulder to see the subject of my train of thoughts standing behind me. I couldn't help the blush that spread over my face.

"Liu.." I rasped out.

As he sat beside me I surreptitiously studied him. His handsome features and intense demeanour left me a blushing mess like always. 

"Yeah it is Liu, Sully liked you enough to give me back the control," he said.

"I liked him too, he's nice," I replied making him chuckle lightly.

"Sully and nice.... never thought I'd hear those two words in the same sentence," he mused.

"I mean yeah he may be a bit closed off but I get where he's coming from," I said.

"You do?" he said looking directly at me, making my heart stutter.

I was wordless for a moment, just hypnotised by his eyes, when I managed to escape the grasp of his gaze and look down.

"You've been hurt before, he's only trying to protect you. I really can't fault him for that. I find it sweet of him really," I managed to reply.

I could almost feel his gaze on me as I stared at the lake. Moments passed and we just sat there in comfortable silence. A chilly breeze blew around which made a shiver run through me. I wrapped my arms around to protect myself from the cold.

I was still lost in thoughts when I felt a sudden warmth envelop me. The blood ran to my face as I realised Liu had wrapped his arm around me and pulled me to his side. 

I looked at him in question when he said, "Well I didn't have a jacket to wrap around you... and this is more romantic anyway."

I couldn't tell if he was teasing or serious, but my body went haywire at his confession added with his proximity. If this continued, I had a feeling that I would spontaneously combust. 

When my inner butterflies decided to calm down a tad bit, I took the time to revel in the feeling of being close to him. I decided to chance a look at him to find him already staring at me.

"What are you doing to me Sally?" He whispered, voicing out my own thoughts.
