yukhei woke up to the suns bright beams right in his eyes. he knew he had closed the curtains so he could sleep until 3pm, but he came eye to eye with one tiny little space between the curtains that let the light flood in. yukhei huffed and rolled over to try and get some more sleep before finally giving in. it was no use. so he yawned and stretched his limbs, wincing at the way that they popped.
"yukheiiiiiii!" a high pitched voice screeched.
yukhei groaned when his younger brother jumped onto his back and harshly shook his shoulder.
"what, le?" he rasped.
"there's people here! down the street! there's a big truck!" he shouted.
"and i should care, why?" yukhei asked.
"because i wanna know who it is!" he whined.
yukhei sighed loudly when the smaller boy kept shaking him. he wasn't getting out of this one.
yukhei pulled himself up and put a shirt on, trudging over to his window and parting the curtains. he peeked through the blinds and saw a moving van at the old place at the end of their street.
"it's a moving van, chenle. someone's just movin' in" he huffed and turned to go back to bed.
but chenle wasn't done quite yet. he gripped his brothers arm and kept on whining.
"we should go see who it is then!" he tugged at his arm " isn't that what neighbors are s'posed to do?"
"yeah if you wanna get kidnapped." the older retorted.
"pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-" the younger continued to drag out the word 'please' until his brother gave in.
yukhei glared at him, watching as his face started reddening from lack of oxygen.
"you're not gone stop are you?" he asked.
"eeeeeeeeeeeee-"
"fine!" yukhei finally caved.
chenle took in a dramatic gasp before grinning.
"yay! be ready in twenty!" with that, the smaller took off so fast yukhei feared he would trip and go tumbling down the stairs.
yukhei sighed and shook his head before smiling to himself. he wasn't in his grumpy morning mood anymore since he wasn't tired anymore.
so yukhei dressed himself and completed his morning routine before heading out with his brother.
"i brought cookies! i hope they won't mind that they're not homemade" chenle smiled and showed him the box of thinmints to which yukhei nodded.
"i'm sure they won't mind. cookies are cookies" yukhei shrugged.
chenle nodded in agreement and stopped in front of the house. there they saw a couple talking to the workers who had help them, with a boy around yukhei's age standing awkwardly behind them. the boy glanced at the duo and quickly looked away, nudging the woman in front of him.
chenle and yukhei had to wait a bit before the three went to talk to them.
"hello!" the woman smiled "sorry for the wait!"
"no worries! we just wanted to say hi!" yukhei smiled with a small bow.
"well then hi! i'm kyulkyung, this is my husband seungcheol and my brother guanheng" she smiled and gestured to them.
yukhei introduced him and his brother shaking kyulkyung and seungcheols hands.
yukhei looked back guanheng, noticing the way that he was awkwardly staring at the ground rather than speaking.
seungcheol gave him nudge but he only shook his head.
huh . . . that was . . kind of rude yukhei thought.
he decided not to say anything even though he was a bit annoyed.
"oh! we brought cookies too!" chenle beamed "they're not homemade though . . we can't cook."
yukhei still had his eyes on guanheng and he could see him laugh a bit. in that moment, he glanced at yukhei for what was less than a second before looking down again and covering his eye.
weird
"I could bring them in then! I don't want them to get cold" he muttered.
"but they're-"
guanheng was already inside before chenle could explain that they were store bot.
"i'm sorry about him, he just gets nervous in front of new people" kyulkyung sighed and gave them an apologetic smile.
"that's okay! i just hope he won't be too disappointed when he realizes they're store bot" chenle laughed a bit.
"i'm sure he'll be fine. thank you both for stopping by! that was very considerate of you boys" kyulkyung stated.
"i know, it was my idea" chenle said with an imaginary hair flip.
kyulkyung laughed at that "well thank you for visiting but we must be on our way now. you boys are welcome to stop by anytime you need to"
"thank you ma'am! bye bye!" chenle smiled brightly and bowed, as did his brother.
yukhei waved at them and left with chenle, heading back towards their place. yukhei caught one last glance of guanheng, watching as he quickly closed the curtains when they made eye contact.
"he's weird" yukhei mumbled.
"don't be rude" chenle frowned "like she said, he's shy"
"well if anyone was being rude it was him. he wouldn't even look at me" yukhei huffed.
chenle only shrugged "he's probably nervous. and you shouldn't be rude to him, he seemed around your age so maybe he'll go to your school!"
yukhei rolled his eyes and stepped inside "college doesn't work like high school, lele. he could go to a college across the city or in another fuckn state for all i know"
"or he could go to your college" chenle made a bee line for the kitchen once they were in.
"yeah, sure" yukhei flopped onto the couch "but! i'll try to be nice anyway, even if he doesn't return the favor."
"that's my boy!" chenle beamed "now what do you want for breakfast since we didn't eat?"
"not cereal" yukhei answered.
"cereal it is then!" chenle shouted back.
yukhei chuckled and opened his insta, liking a few of his friends posts. he had classes the next morning so he was going to make the most of his lazy day by doing absolute nothing.
