-- It looks like I'm back in business guys. I'm sorry for my inactivity and I hope that what I post today and what I posted yesterday can make up for it a little bit. I hope you enjoy this new story--
Akari P.O.V.
I yawn as I stare at my phone, looking at memes at 4 in the morning. Nothing unusual for me. My phone buzzes and a message drops down from the top of my screen. From Maya.
Maya (>^<)- Yo! Check your email!!! You won't believe it!!!
Me *.* - Ok... Why..?
Maya (>^<)- Just do it!!!
Me *.* - Fine..... -_-
I groan and login to my email. One new email is sitting in my inbox. I click on it, ready to send it to the thrash when I read who sent it.
Dear Mr./Ms.____________ Your transfer and enrollment paperwork have been accepted. Congratulations on passing the Ouran Private Academy Entrance Exam. The staff are ecstatic to see that we will have a new student in the classroom. Waiting for your arrival.
-The Headmaster
Wait. What?! I took that test on a whim!! I didn't think I'd actually pass!!!
Me *.* - OMG!!! I PASSED!!!!
Maya (>^<)- I DID TOO!!!!! Not only are we moving to Japan together, we're going to a prestigious school together!!!
Me *.* - That's insane..... Mind blown ^o^
Maya (>^<)- I know!! I'm so excited!!
Me *.* - Have you packed everything?
Maya (>^<)- Yeah..... I packed my clothes that fit and are big on me... I packed my wax melter...... I packed my good books, donated the rest..... I packed 3 good pairs of shoes, sneakers, sandals, and dress shoes... I packed my 3 fave pillows and 4 fave blankets.....
Me *.* - Only the necessities.. Nothing more, nothing less. It costs more to move more overseas.
Maya (>^<)- I know I know....
Me *.* - Good. I'll meet you at the airport in a few hours.
Maya (>^<)- Yup!!
I yawn once more, and roll out of bed. I slump to my mirror and fix my unruly hair, tying it in a knot on the top of my head. I step into the bathroom and brush my teeth and wash my face. I head back into my room to get dressed, changing into the comfiest clothes possible for the plane ride. I look around my almost empty apartment and smile. "Goodbye old pal. You kept me warm during winters, and relatively cool during summers, but I'm not going to miss you. At all. Whatsoever." I nod my head, grab my suitcase and head out the door. It takes a good two hours to take the bus to the airport, so it works out.
I sit at the bus stop, waiting for the bus when my phone buzzes again. It's another email, asking about my measurements and what dress size I normally wear. I pause and think for a moment then send an email back. They probably want to have our uniforms ready before we arrive.
The bus pulls up and I step onto the metal death trap, or so Maya likes to call it, and take a seat near the middle of the bus, away from all of the creepers. I put my earbuds in and play some music while I watch the world blur past the window.
After several hundred stops, the bus finally reaches the airport. I hop off and stretch.
"AKARIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I hear a familiar voice call my name. I turn towards my right and see the familiar aqua hair that bounces everywhere with each step. Maya Tachibana. One of my best friends and has similar hair problems as me. I smile, wave and walk over to the 5'2 artist.
"Hey, you ready to leave this awful town behind?" We do a series of high fives and finger wiggles, ending the sequence with a hip bump. Our little handshake.
"Hell yeah!! I'll have so many more opportunities in Japan to showcase my art work too!! I already have buyers there for my weekly manga!" She smiles happily. Maya is a back alley artist of sorts. She does have some professional works, like her weekly Shonen Jump manga that comes out in Japan. I get to read it because I check for spelling errors or a character that doesn't act quite right. She really is a strange girl, but she's fun to be around. She takes every moment she can and makes it part of her storyline.
"The plane boards in about...... 45 minutes.. So let's wait near the gate." I check my phone, and yawn again.
"Yeah. I've already had three cups of coffee and written down 27 different ideas for the new chapter of my manga." Maya bounces beside me as we head towards the seats closest to the gates.
"Neat. Well, I hope you have a long book for the plane ride. It's about 15 hours." I smirk as she falters.
"Oh... Yeah I have this one!" She pulls out East of Eden. That should keep her attention for about .05 seconds. Then she'll get bored. "I also have my phone so I can listen to podcasts like other people do!" She smiles and bounces again. She'll be out like a light within the first 5 minutes of being up in the air... Thank God.
"ATTENTION. FLIGHT 340 TO JAPAN IS NOW BOARDING. PLEASE HEAD TO GATE B."
The announcement rings throughout the airport as Maya and I grab our stuff and head to the gate. I get through security quickly, but wait 5 minutes for Maya to get through. She has a lot of piercings in her tiny ears.
"Wow.. I forgot I had that belly button piercing ..." She chuckles, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Let's just board the plane." I smile while shaking my head.
"YES! LET"S G-!"
"Shut. Up. Loudmouth....." I cover her mouth with my hand and push her forward, into the plane cabin.
We get to our seats, she's in the window seat and I'm in the middle while some blonde guy is in the aisle.
"Hey, Akari... Do you think that we'll be accepted? It was hard enough to find an apartment near the school.. What if it's no different than school in America... What if we're just going to be outcasts in a high end school full of rich kids...?" Maya's bright, excited smile falls as the worry settles on her soft features.
"We'll be fine Maya... Nothing will happen. It's a new school, different people, different teachers, no parental figures getting in our way. This is an opportunity to live with different rules, all on our own. No one to tell us how we should live our lives. We don't need to hide behind fake names anymore. We are Akari and Maya, and we can do anything." I ruffle her nest of hair and put an earbud in, playing my feel good playlist. The captain goes over all of the directions, ya know, seat belts, emergencies, electronics, etc.
5 minutes into the air, I look at Maya and she's out, listening to "Disturbed" instead of her podcasts. I was right.
"Wow.. Your friend there must've been up for a while last night." The blonde on my other side comments, gesturing towards Maya.
