She played Soccer and pursued it in her first two years of middle school. She got cut in third year due to the injury her right ankle endured during the season. Since they went to the same school, Hinata suggested she help him and his friends play in their volleyball. He had one goal, to win, and to help her friend, She agreed. They went against Kitagawa Daiichi, meeting the Setter Kageyama who's team beats them and she and Hinata vow the next time they meet, they would win, that was until they met at Kurasuno and found out he was their teammate. Since it was against the rules, Daichi suggested it would be best for Dani to pretend to be a boy. That didn't last long. In a practice game against Nekoma, Tsukishima goes off on a rant on how she should've done better and spat out the words 'She's and 'Her' causing the Refs to call her off but both captains and both sets of coaches allowed her to continue and with that the school changed the rules and allowed her to play
After some games, her ankle becomes irritated from all the jump spikes, Jump serves and jump blocks, she tries to pull it off as nothing. At one point, it gets to the point to where she can't play because her ankle gets too irritated. Once healed, she begged Nishinoya to help her be a Libero
"What about being the Ace?"
"Not much an Ace can do injured..."
And with that he helped her, in a pinch, she, Daichi, and Coach Ukai allow her to play on and off as a Middle blocker and serve

Her mom wanted to get her into dolls and such but she refused. When Spencer joined his middle school baseball team when they moved to Japan, there was nothing Angel wanted more than to watch and cheer him on. When she joined middle school, she tried out for the team but couldn't play for the girls team. She always went to the gym, while the volleyball team practiced, she threw a ball against the wall, when the ball bounced back she missed it and a boy with black hair picked it

She went back to playing. After their interaction they began to talk and Kenma introduced her to Kuroo and they soon became friends. With that motivation, in high school, she made the Nekoma High Baseball team but of course always went to support Nekoma Volleyball for Kenma's sake
