Just Friends?

How his wish came true

The ringing in my ears didn't help the three hour time difference between here and California.
Ugh might as well get up....

I put on my denim shorts and a lace blue tank top. Quickly I pulled my hair into a messy bun and ran down the stairs. I grabbed my keys of the counter.

"Bye Mom," I shouted.

"Bye Hun," she replied,"be careful"

I slid into my car and drove to the dinner.

I remembered the last time I had been here.
Two years was definitely a long time!

Silently I hoped Trent was there. I hadn't spoken to him in two years. That was the longest I had been away from him, ever since preschool we were best friends.

My legs had a mind of their own as they carried my inside. I quickly sat at a table.

"Chocolate-chip pancakes please." I told the lady.

"M'kay you want coffee" her voice sounded vaguely familiar. My head shot up.
It sounded like Alyssa, my other best friend.

"Alyssa?" I heard myself croak.

"Em!!" She cried.

"Hey," I got up to give her a hug.

"Why didn't you text me the minute you landed?"she scolded as her arms tightened around me.

"Ugh yow sqghishinh mii," I squeaked.

"Huh..." She stepped back.

"I said,' You are squishing me!'"

"Oh sorry, anyways I'll get you that cofee, on the house."

As soon as she left, a guy walked up to me. His blue eyes captured mine. His hair was tousled to the side and his tan broad sholders held his black tank top.

"Are you a parking ticket? Cause you got fine written all over you." His mouth moved.

For a second I thought he was serious. My laugh filled the area. He was definitely shocked.

"Do you got a name or are you just fine-laughing-at-pick-up-lines-girl?" He replied as my laughing died down.

"Emily" I said.

"What?"

"That's my name," I replied.

"Oh well Emily do you wanna come sit with us?" He eagerly pointed at a table.

"Sure,"I replied.

Trents POV

My head was down on the table.

"Damn that girl is hot," I heard Sam say.

" First person to get her number is the ultimate player," Alex announced.

I heard Sam dash off the table to the girl. Sometimes I wished I still had my girl friends around.
No not girlfriends but friends that were girls. Though I had had lots of both. I need Em.

After about five minutes he returned. I didn't bother looking at her. She was probably some other an easy hook up. I saw Alex gawking at her.

"Take a picture it will last longer" she snapped at him.

Matt, Sam, and I laughed. Still I kept my eyes down.

"Well I am Sam" he continued.

"I'm Alex", he announced.

"I am Matt," Matt continued.

"Why are you wearing galaxy joggers?" She asked.(picture above)

"Why do you prefer me without any joggers?" he replied.

"Sorry, hun, I don't like to be disappointed."

I laughed out loud.
Now I had to see her face.

I looked up. Her green eyes captured mine.

"Em?" I asked.

"Trent" she spoke softly.
