chapter 1: the reason

throwback

"i will never ever sit on that filthy throne!"

"i am your father. whether you are in favor of it or not, you will do as i say."

"i will never rule such cruel world, father. i am only half of your kind. i dont understand why am i the heir when you have a son whose whole being is your kind!"

"luna, shouldnt you be glad instead of being ungrateful because i chose you as my heir? how dare you turn down your own father's command?"

i glared at him with swollen and teary eyes. "you shouldve left me on earth in peace. it was never my choice to be born like this. in all honesty, i never wanted this life-"

before i could even finish my words, his palm already met the side of my face. causing me to stop and fall down on the ground with my hand supporting my weight and the other holding my hurt cheek.

"i know that you have an idea about what happened to your mother even if i dont tell you. i already made a decision and now, it is your turn to choose your path. have it your way, end up like your mother or rule this world. your world."

with that he walked away from me, leaving me bruised and weak on the ground as the sound of my cries filled the room.

minutes later i heard the door open.

i covered my face with my hands for, whoever that is, to not see my chaotic state. "leave me alone this instance!"

i heard the footsteps grew closer. "i said leave!" i turned around to face the unwanted guest, only to see the one who i needed the most.

his soft features instantly calmed my system.

"darling.." he softly utter as he reached his hands for me to hold.

i had no idea how to speak to him in this state. i held his hands to pull him closer and cried in his chest.

"i-i.. yoongi. im sorry, i dont hate your kind.. i just dont want the throne."

he caressed my back and held me even tighter. "shush, my love. i know, i know. i am right here with you now and i will always be here with you. you dont have to be afraid anymore."

present time

i sighed and took off my glasses. i glanced at the wall clock in the corner of the room.

9:36 am

"he must be awake already. i wonder if he slept well last night after the disturbance ive caused." i muttered to myself as i rub my temples.

"he didnt." i heard familiar voice across the room.

i looked up and i saw one of the deities, the one that took me here on earth. "seokjin.."

he greeted me with a slight smile.

"he kept thinking about the creature that showed up in his house. he is already aware that you are a powerful one, according to his half blood. he just wondered if you are a bad kind or a good kind of powerful."

i chuckled dryly. "did you follow them as well? sneaked your way in? have you heard about anything else?"

he made himself comfortable inside my office room as he walked around while observing the area.

"when are you planning to keep this up?" he stopped his tracks and fixed his gaze at me.

"keep what up?"

"you already know what i mean, luna."

the expression of my face dropped as well as my gaze, slightly caressing the ruby ring on my fourth finger.

i glanced at him to give him a signal on what i am trying to tell but cannot say.

it was his turn to chuckle dryly.

"one's promise while still alive will cease to exist after one's death." his voice lingered inside my ears.

"isnt it.. odd that he is now carrying the same name that he had a thousand years ago?"

"you are someone in his past life that he doesnt even remember at all. that is very unusual yet that doesnt mean that theres a chance for him to fulfill his promise he made to you.. while he was once an immortal creature."

"i still dont understand why youre still asking me when am i planning to keep this up." i stated with a growl as the anger inside me in starting to rise.

i stood up from my sit and slammed my hands on the table, causing a strong wave of air to hit the whole room. "do you really think that it is easy for me to just let him pass every single lifetime after the 500 years of us being inseparable?!"

he kept a straight face and walked towards me, never leaving his eyes from me.

"if i wasnt some sort of deity, i would be burning from your glare right now." he chuckled.

he turned around to leave the room, as he opened the door, he stopped and took a quick glance over me.

"you have lived and is still living a long life, luna."

i didnt reply.

"he is now a mortal under the circumstances of reincarnation. he has no worries about his time being wasted. all of his memories faded and he is able to create more every lifetime he will receive without any regrets." and with that, he left.

and there i was, left there frozen in thought.

as his words rung through my mind, tears are slowly escaping my eyes.

no.. you are not wasting your time.

yes, you are. jin was right.

yoongi forgot about your existence, stop hoping.

everything will never come back to the way it was..

no..

no.

NO!

i couldnt handle the lump of rage forming inside me, i broke down and screamed.

as if a tornado entered the room, everything inside it flew everywhere. hitting the walls, still spinning in the strong air

until i stopped. everything fell on the ground.

i was left alone again. head buried on my knees, sobbing silently.
