I should have traded you instead of Ruby

The thought still rung through Sophie's head as she layed in her bed. What did her mother mean when she said that? And who was Ruby?! Questions upon questions filled her head until she finally lifted herself up and watched the lights outside flicker in the dark blue sky. She continued to stare at them for a while, hoping the thoughts in her head would leave her soon. She couldn't comprehend what had just happened.

"Who's Ruby? And if she was my sister, then why was she taken away?" Sophie wondered. As she began to think it over once again a sudden noise stopped her. She turned her head and saw her phone beeping and vibrating on the window sill. She quickly grabbed it and looked to see who was texting her at such a time. She looked down and saw that it wasn't someone texting her, it was just an alarm set to text Rachael.

"Oh yeah, Rachael can text at this time" Sophie reminded herself. "I should send Rachael a text to see what she's up to" She threw her blanket off of her and began to climb down her ladder, trying to make sure no creaks were heard from it. As she got to the bottom she dramatically landed and went under her bed. Where her desk was. She pulled open the curtain and crept inside, making no noise as she moved the rustling curtains. She then carefully closed the curtain gently.

There was a Silver monitor sitting on the desk with a pictured frame of her family on it. The draws were filled with papers and a wheelie chair sitting still under the desk itself. Sophie pulled it out and fell into it. She spun around to get a little laugh out of it and then went back to what she was doing. Sophie pressed the monitor's power button and the computer's aswell. The small space lit up with a blue light and the sound of window xp intensifying.

"Oh crap!" Sophie uttered out as she lowered the sound of the computer. While waiting to see if anyone woke up she hoped her mother didn't hear it. Her mother hated robots enough, but to know that her own blood was talking to one was an unforgivable act towards her. Luckily no one awoke. She let out a sigh "Okay, time to see if she's available"

Click click click went the mouse as it moved it's cursor to Rachaels profile picture. After getting into the messaging system Sophie sent Rachael a message stating the following:

'Hi there Rachael how's it going up in the mayor's office? Anything new'

Her finger hit the send button and now it was time to wait. She waited for a response as she sat at her desk patiently. 5 minutes had passed, so Sophie pulled up a game of stronghold onto her computer. As she opened it, it showed a small kingdom surrounding a small forest. There were knights training, people farming up their crops and flour, miners going out to...Well mine and children dancing around a pole with ribbons falling from the top of it. She would usually play this game when she was bored or done with all the chores around the house.

As the kingdom's people grew in numbers a sudden cry from the north called. Sophie gasped from the cry for help as it continued to become louder and louder. She had thought that the wolves were closing into her kingdom's area, so she quickly built a wall surrounding her main parts. She sent out her men to fight them as the pheasants hid inside the walls. Surprisingly it wasn't wolves that were attacking...There was nothing at all!

"What the, where are the wolves?" Sophie questioned. She searched all around the game's map, but to no avail were there any threats to her kingdom. Suddenly the noise occurred again. This time though Sophie's game was paused. She quickly climbed up her bed and looked outside her window to see what was going on. It had sounded like sharp, rusty metal slowly rubbing against glass. Her eyes squinted in the dark night as she scanned the area, hoping to find something. But there was nothing too.

"I guess it's just my mind playing tricks on me then" she told herself as she went back down to her computer. She sat down and played Strongholds a bit more. A couple minutes later she looked at the time and saw it read 3:00am. "Seems like she isn't available now. Maybe I'll visit her tomorrow"

Sophie got up from her seat and stretched her back, causing a slight crack to occur. "I better not get a stiff back before I have a family..." Sophie muttered. She then climbed up her bed with the sense of tiredness on her face. Finally after climbing such height she settled herself into bed. All nice and comfy in her bed. Before closing her eyes she looked out her window one last time and wondered what was happening with Rachael. The thought of Rachael not being able to call or text anymore put a strain on Sophie's heart. She would never want anything bad to happen to her.

She pulled the blanket until it reached her chin and soon fell asleep. As she drifted off to sleep, a sudden shadow crept through her window. On the outside was a strange black silhouette staring through it, straight at Sophie. It placed it's hand on the glass and pressed it's face up against it's cold surface. It's eyes glued to the girl's face. It stayed in that position for a while still staring at her when a sudden light startled it. As it was startled it quickly moved back into the shadows before anything else could happen. To it's surprise it was only a mere moonlight that was revealed through the clouds.

It let out a sigh of relief as it soon went back to its little staring game.
