CHAPTER ONE

THE DEMI UNIVERSITY

New age has begun new set of demigods, new set of Kindly Ones. There will be new set quests for heroes and dangers. Camp Half-Blood has honored the late heroes and their contributions to mankind and Olympus. I am a half-blood, a demigod but unlike all other demigods, I was claimed before the promised age. My mother was an ordinary girl, she can’t see through the Mist. The Mist is a magical veil that gives off illusion to ordinary people, but for us who are special, we can see through the Mist. It’s like having a third eye. She met my father long time ago and bore me. She never spoke about my father until my 5th birthday.

It was my 5th birthday that my father claimed me as his daughter. Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon asked the gods to claim their children at the age of 13, but my father claimed me when I was 5, which was pretty weird. I never thought of something else, like a plan or something, all I know is that my father is a god and he already claimed me.

Now, all demigods were asked to gather at Camp Half-Blood, it’s a camp most likely, a camp where you harness your own skill. It’s a safe place for demigods; it has a protective barrier that covers the entire camp. This barrier protects the camp from certain invaders or attacks from Kindly Ones or furies sent by the god of the underworld, Hades or from the evil titans. Last century, the titans almost destroyed Manhattan. It was said in the prophecy that a hero brings the destruction of Olympus or save it. Many thought it was Thalia, daughter of Zeus, or Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. But after the war, it was Luke Castellan, son of Hermes. He was used by the Titan Lord, Kronos to destroy both mankind and Olympus.

So much about that prophecy, that was thousand years ago, it’s a century ago. Nobody cares about that now, it’s just a memory written in the stones to be remembered and honored. Back to the camp, all is well. Everything else is fine, no threats, no quests, just mere training. Yes, mere training, training for what? Another invasion, there have been no furies attacking after that century war. So why train? I came to the camp but coming to the camp escorted by a weird creature is something else.

I was welcomed by the new oracle, Lyn War. She is a pretty lady with very light and fair complexion. She’s not scary unlike the other oracle of the past century, which was actually a spirit being mummified. The Oracle doesn’t look like she’s cursed or being banished here on Earth, she’s ordinary looking, not so special. But I can feel her power, a huge field of power that surrounds her. That gave me chills when I first met her at the gates of the camp.

“Welcome to camp half blood. Please, come in demigod. You are very welcome here.”

“Can she come in too?”

I pointed to my escort which was not a human, an evil sea creature, a banshee. I don’t know of all creatures that have the potential to escort me to camp, but I was sure that it has something to do with my father. After all, I still haven’t accepted him as my father. If you’re in my shoes, you’d probably feel the same way too.

The oracle fixed her eyes on the banshee, smiled then grinned.
